Yes, Leah.  And, I put up that link because I did not like a "one-liner" I saw today on a particular thread.

I agree Leah.  Sarcasm has nothing to do with wit, or even irony.

All the best

Hermes,

Absolutely fantastic link... thank you!

After reading in its entirety, I created a favorites folder for this one... cuz no doubt will want to access it again... wow, I could not possibly agree more. I especially appreciated the author's response to the first reply received... about the user of sarcasm throwing up hands and acting all innocent-like, as though his sarcasm is purely a frustration response.
There is absolutely nothing pure about sarcasm. It stinks, imo.

What really gets me is the way that those who wield sarcasm like a weapon seem to think they're taking the high road.. like they're legends in their own minds or something. To me, it's as low and cowardly as a person can get to resort to this non-means of non-communication.

Thanks again!

Carolyn

Sadly, I am `good at' sarcasm, in the sense that has been regarded as entertaining by friends and partners.  But I don't find it appropriate to use it unless I am truly backed into a corner by someone very cruel and stupid. Every now and again it comes out, like a sword, and I am grateful for the defense it offers.

I see it more as a `non-violent' form of punching someone in the nose, who really, really deserves it.

Confession:

I like mild sarcasm, delivered without malice.

When it's witty...well, I guess what I like is mildly sarcastic wit.

Mea culpa!
