Wow! Thank you for sharing that. It described my NM to the letter. Isn't it fascinating how their behavior is so completely textbook? They're all exactly the same. Identical in every way.

I know. That's why it is obviously a disorder. It's not just some quirky thing my mom has. I have to bend the characteristics to fit her a bit. For instance, she has to be the center of attention but she doesn't walk into the room yelling, "look at me! look at me!" Instead she expects people to defer to her every whim and also gives to different charities. But only the ones who will parade her and stage and thank her publicly. She acts all classy and humble but she is not!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have not been visiting the board much lately, tuned in and here was this great article and resource. I have been looking for something brief and explanatory for when the time comes for me to have this discussion about who my NMom is and this is perfect. Its all about how they operate and its about 90% of what my NM does. The one thing that was different for me was the boundaries part, her physical boundaries are OK, just not the emotional ones.
I also sent it on to a therapist friend - what I liked about it is that it illustates the cause/effect issue that people seem to miss when the incidents dont happen in chronological order. Very helpful.
Thanks!
