Not thinking about them much
Twoapenny:
I realised this morning that I don't think about my family much anymore. That emotional pull just isn't as strong as it used to be. There are still aspects of my life that I struggle with and want to work on but that whole family thing just doesn't seem to have the same power over me that it used to. A good thing! Thought I'd share in case it helps anyone else who's swamped down by it all at the minute.

I'm glad to read things are getting better. I think we get stronger by hard won increments....
it's a process, and there's no shortcuts to serenity.

Defintely agree. There's a whole range of emotions to work through but yes, the old habits lessen, new ones get stronger and there's less and less space for silly people :)

Hi Tupp. I am having the same experience, which is probably why I haven't been posting much in recent months. I still think about the FOO situation, but it has become more of a mental consideration and less of an emotional trap. They are all nuts. There's nothing I can do about it. And obsessing over the situation doesn't do me any good. Acceptance while maintaining distance is key..

Hi, Silver!
Yes, I completely agree. It's as if their tentacles are losing suction :) The distance and lack of contact have helped (by distance I mean emotional, geographically they're very close). And being able to be objective and turn situations around - would I do the same? Do I think this is fair? reasonable? do I trust their opinion? You know the answers to all of those questions.
So yes, mental consideration rather than emotional trap is a good way to put it.
I'm glad things are levelling out for you, too :) xx
