How do YOU know when a N is lying?

How do you know when a N is lying?  I have no idea how much my
N father actually lies. A little? A Lot? I know I used to call him
Professer-knows-nothing-tells-all, because he would always have
the answer for everything and he couldn't possibly know everything :-)

I catch him looking away when he doesn't want to answer a direct question. Is he formulating a lie? Does everyone do this or is it
just N's? How do you know when a "normal" person lies, and is it
different from an N?

Their lips are moving--

I'm sorry for that corny reply but since narcissists live in an altered reality a lot of the time, much of what they say can have an exaggerated, self promotional, or delusional quality.

But I guess you mean in a more practical way. You hit the nail with when you said he looks away for certain questions.

I think N's have similar "tells" that they are lying as a non N person would.

There are websites [just do a keyword search] that explain what specific physical things to watch for when someone is lying if you are more interested.

Hi Judith,

I'd like to advocate for those on the autism spectrum. Some people with Asperger's Syndrome are  just on the other side of eccentric and sometimes pass for normal. Those with Asperger's Syndrome often have a hard time making eye contact and yet are considered very honest persons.

Here is an article by a person on the autism spectrum about eye contact:

http://maapservices.org/MAAP_Sub_Find_It_-_Publications_Bovee_Eye_Contact_Article.htm

Anyway, it seems body language can sometimes be misleading one way or another.  Practiced liars can look someone right in the eye and be lying a blue streak.
