I'm headed to the farmer's market, with Baby Girl Pug, to buy some lettuce starts and maybe chard after (almost certain to be In-Laws) dinner last night.  It's cool and sunny out. Perfect time see how Pug does, in a crowd, these days

They're (potential ILs) big gardeners, and problem solvers, read that as likely codependent-ish, but in a charming, Southern way.  The dad suggested lettuces, etc for my shady growing patch.  I'm happy to look forward to crunchy lettuce without driving to the store.

The Lady Wife grows flowers, tomatoes and has to stop herself from seed starting in January, filling their home too early with plants. The Dad grows tons of hot peppers and first bonded with DD24 over a hot pepper eating contest.  He also makes custom dehydrated spice blends, but intends to dial back the heat this year.  I hope he doesn't, but mostly listened.

Lady Wife gave me suggestions for low growing flowers to replace grass/weeds in large areas....we have enough in common, just with gardening, to be comfortable and not bored, but I'm over seed starts I can't toss in the ground.  At least for a while.

I enjoy reading about yours though!

The retired nurse came back in town.  I see her and the other 2 elderly neighbor ladies having a chat in her driveway.

Something must have happened while I was out, bc the FOR SALE sign is leaned against the other side of the mailbox now.

The cult de sac is dirty, full of rocks and bits of bobs ..... something leaked from a truck during repairs, looks awful.

Welcome home RT.

The hummingbirds are buzzing and chirping around the back porch feeders, the chipmunks/squirrels are everywhere, the 5 Wren babies left the nest, Pileated Woodpecker pecking my landscape logs to pulp, crows chasing hawks, and the hawks are hunting.

My sister and have been moving around Linton Roses, planting 9 new purple/green hydrangea (Mathilda Gutges) on sale from $35 to $9.99 at HD, and giving away a wheelbarrow full of stray hosta, popping up everywhere.......chopping down old, very dead, very large azalea bushes from the overgrown side yard.

As I write this, DD24 is going through new and old art supplies.....handmade papers, maps, paints, charcoal and pencils.......while humming CCR and wearing an oversized men's shirt.  She laughed.....bc she and her sister agreed..... they've turned into their mother.

JoAnn's is closing, so they've made a buying trip, at 80% off, and come back with supplies, including some fixtures. The intention to turn DD24'S bedroom into an art room has begun.  They want to cover a wall in pegboard...... there's two, already full closets.  Mostly fabrics and finished costumes.

DD24 shows off some of her new, very lovely, decorative papers.  I imagine the treasures and found nature objects she'll layer and build on....DD replies...."exactly."

Back to the yard.....we worked in two days of rain......love to work in the drizzle. Moving plants, in the rock beds, means moving lots of river rock.

I have more hydrangeas to place and plant.  The purple/green flowers are glorious next to the Hemlocks, with their new growth greens.

Everything is lush and happy in the rain.  I'm going to take a Methacarbinal and put on wet gear.  I wear fly fishing shoes, which work well.

Will sort and carry away most of the things sitting around....broken granite....some beams I wanted to turn into lighting fixtures, etc.  It's just time to get rid of stuff......the garage, in particular needs a good edit.

I'm struggling with it, but once I'm in that mode.....things GO!

Sigh...what a lovely tour of what your green thumb (and green eye?) has made possible.

The hydrangeas sound exquisite...wish I could plant them all along my ugly fence.

Happy happy in your yard, and tuning into all blooming things.

So glad this is where you are, Lighter.

SO lush, it's stunning. Heavy rain then a green explosion.
For some reason my hostas have gone berserk. Sole huge hydrangea's getting ready.
Gardener neighbor says it's HER compost creeping down from her fenceline into my long hosta bed. Works for me, says I, keep it up! She's a friend but so...odd.

Stuck my head out front door last night to check on mailbox
(didn't go all the way out). So I craned my head around
to look and Mr. 5-foot black racer snake is hanging out to dry
on the mailbox "arms". I'm a foot from his face and vice versa.
He's very handsome with a white belly.

Hello snake, go I.
Hello person, goes he.
Getting out of the wet? go I.
Pretty much, goes he.
Night then, go I.
Night, goes he.

Hugs

Hi, Hops. We stepped over a baby garter snake yesterday, on the trails.  Snakes.  I kinda love them.  Not to touch, but it feels like finding fairies in the woods, kinda special.

I'm at Sunday night karaoke and the drag queen DJ just chased me out of the club, for the second time, insisting I do a duet with her.  Nope.  Both my girls said they'd sing too.....still.....nope.

Why is it so fun to torment the most introverted among us?  DD22 singing duet with drag queen now....a DD24 sang twice...lots of energy....was the first time I've seen her sing karaoke.  It was magical, bc she's glowing with happiness over this boy, she loves.

My sibs are both in town....my BIL, niece and her bf too.  We're laughing a lot.  Enjoying each other's company.  Eating ourselves sleepy......and I'm sleepy now.

Karaoke picked up....lots of people signed up....lots of helpers on the sidelines.

It's nice.
