Guest checked out, I assume, without saying a word. The only texts came 2 days after arrival ....
He was there ....
One of the caretakers dogs stole one of his shoes ......
He found a cheap replacement pair at a shop ......
The water went off and his missing shoe never reappeared.
I responded....
the water and electricity ebb and flow, as I explained on the website.
He was radio silent the rest of the trip.
I did not have a positive guest interaction, to be honest. I tried to help him be prepared for late Sunday arrival, but he brushed off every suggestion THEN peppered me with questions to save him from his fate, once he realized all the missing and moving puzzle pieces involved with procuring food.
At least the "caretaker" picked him up at the dock.

Current guests are very quiet. No more mention of barking dog. Caretaker said it was a raccoon creating the problem. Seems to have resolved.

The paddle boarders left a day ahead of my brother's arrival. Housekeeper is used to a full day, between guests, to clean.....her back can't take same day turnovers, that's for sure, though it happens every blue moon.
Brother texted happy arrival photo, said the crossing was "sport" and took 3.5 hours. On flat days, it takes 2.
He's brought new sheets, soaps, TP and paper towels, woo hoo!
I'm dragging my feet, writing last 2 reviews. The dogs have been an issue, smaller or larger issue, with every guest this season.
Taking a shower, dog phobia, barking at raccoon, etc....and they bring the strays around too.
Not complaining, just expressing some feelings of helplessness, esp when caretaker doesn't answer my texts or calls. I always tell his big sister, housekeeper, in him, then he calls me back.
This last conversation, "caretaker" threw his hand over his eyes and went all dramatic about "maybe getting rid of them all.".
Ummm, you didn't ask to have 1. Now you 9, for child Pete's sake, of course most have to go. Maybe keep Mocha.

Current guests left late on the 1st ...landing them and their boat at the he marina after closing.
The "caretaker" ignored my calls and texts, which is unhelpful, esp as he's the current dock master at the marina and lives for free in my guesthouse.
Housekeeper answered immediately, and fetched guests promptly. Caretaker texted he'd sent a taxi....which was unhelpful and had to be cancelled.....then he ghosted me again.
Guests happy and appreciative once installed at Cottage. My housekeeper is a gem, often doing her job, and often her brother's.
Not sure why being helpful and professional is so difficult for some men, and not others, but it's a thing.
Later, "caretaker" texted he'd gotten in touch with guests, but damnit....a day late and a dollar short.
He was also benefactor, of fridge contents, after my brother left recently. Housekeeper has a big family, but the single guy, living for free, not being helpful, with dogs stealing guest shoes.....should have everything. Grrrr.

Guests checked out a day early. Must have boated back during a good weather window.
