Hey Hops!
« on: December 20, 2024, 10:29:03 AM »
How're you doing? Still have the puppy?
Want a couple gorgeous kitties? LOLOLOL.

Little monsties are half the time racing through the house and half the time being the cutest things on earth having kitty naps. Pickles is a little love bug; must has all the pets and she'll love you back. Likes to be held on my lap all cuddled up in my thick robe. She also perches on the back of the couch and curls around my neck. Lucy is more independent usually hanging out on her own. But she is also learning the value of petting sessions and just isn't as dependent on them.

This time of year... an afternoon fire in the woodstove, cuppa tea and warm kitties makes wasting time luxurious! But I'm not going to be able to do that till tomorrow. Then, the rest of the "holiday" is just us. How about you?

Hey back, mountain girl!

Yup, Pup's still here. Greatly sobered by his boot camp, has clearly learned some things that can help as long as I learned them too, and turns out crate-training him was a miracle.

I wake (for a while) fairly early and wait until I get the urgent bark-alarm, throw on shoes and coat and take him outside where he pees like a camel for a minute, and NOT ON MY LIVING ROOM FLOOR. That all by itself is a massive help. Then he's relatively mellow for couple hours, partly on my bed, partly back in crate where he snoozes again. So mornings are way better already.

Poor guy was just exhausted when he first came home, which I confused with obedience. Ha. More seriously, he did learn, and sort of sober up, and while it's clear he's still processing his adventure/jail term, there's hope on the horizon. I either will or won't be able to be: consistent, quick, and focused enough to help him retain his lessons. So any Big Decision is put off for another while TBD.

Took him out today while sainted cleaner was doing her loving job at the house, and it was great. He's such good company out on the town. A woman at the bank saw him and said, "That is the cutest dog I've ever seen in my entire life." !!!!!!! Fun!

"Off" is my favorite command. It means, "stop doing whatever you're doing because whatever it is it's not acceptable." How handy! He can heel, too. Who knew? I'm still in love, so we'll see.

Xmas is the usual. Made a date with a solo writer pal to go out and eat Indian. Poifect. Maybe a movie if we're feeling like it.

Hope yours goes well too, hon, and thanks for the shout. Much appreciated.

hugs
Hops

Well, we're supposed to have a laidback dinner with the Step-D and her new "Brady Bunch" - which makes for 6 all by themselves. The youngest kids are new guy's: 10 & 12... which is not so little anymore. Logan's 16 already!
B's only met A; and that was briefly a couple years ago. But Hol is fully the new "hostess goodie chick" and this is right up her alley... all I have to do is clean house.

Then B & I are retreating into our "long winter's nap" mode for at least most of Jan, while Hol is globe-trotting. I do have to hold down the fort, during her several housesitters. There are definitely things "to do" but I want to cocoon for awhile.

Absolutely YAY to cocooning for you!
Snug cozy nesting, plenty of novels, cuddles with B, cooking only what you want to, sleep sleep sleep, and if it snows, watching the magic move over the mountain.

I'm awash in fanstasies about how beautiful it could be.

Plus wet dogs, animals to feed, and the usual occasional urgencies. But I hope they'll be few and far between.

NONPRODUCTIVITY! I've got too much of it but believe bouts of it are very good for anybody. Especially busy-bodies (hahahaha, not original meaning!) like you.

hugs and ho hos,
Hops

Thanks Hops. It's funny, I was just reflecting how I used to think there was something wrong with me for over-sleeping. The "normal" in the 80s was to get by on very little sleep. I NEED my 8 hrs or I'm thrown off the rest of the day. There a lot of people who don't need therapy - they just need to get enough sleep and understand they are ALLOWED to have downtime! LOL.

 The Italians have a saying....
"Il dolce far niente" translating to "the sweetness of doing nothing."

I thought it was just a name for wine, but it's a philosophy ☃️
