What do you do just for yourself?

I too love Marmite! Not thinly, but not thickly either, I guess at this at least I'm a happy medium! :D  It took me years to get to like it though, but I kept trying once in a while b/c I loved the smell of it. Cadbury: you and I really don't have to worry about Spina Bifida then, with all that folic acid on our toast. By the way, you [/i]can eat Stilton and Brie while you're pregnant, you just have to heat it up until it bubbles first, to get rid of those nasty micro-organisms. I was sooo happy when I found this out! Stilton cheese toasties...Pasta sauce made from Camembert... Mmmmm... :) I've never tried it with marmite though.

Stormchild…I’ve been wondering about your prawn thingies…they can’t be prawn crackers, the Chinese variety…so they must be… KP Prawn SKIPS? Nasty, weird, sort of flower-shaped vaguely pink yeah, Styrofoam things! Truly awful. I think they’re synthetic, probably made from the stuff used to stuff furniture. I have eaten them. :?

Cadbury: Stilton and Marmite…there’s a taste explosion - a little perverse but hey, you like marmite, you’re okay! 8)

I have never heard of marmite before.  It doesn't sound that appealing to me but it's fun to hear about it.

That's what is so great about sharing our worlds with eachother....always something new to discover.

Let me be the first to put "good sex" on the list of favorites.  I guess you can tell what I haven't had for awhile.

I just had to get that Marmite picture out of my head.

Mia, it’s the one thing you either love or hate, it has no in-between. It’s really quite odd to have the word ‘hate’ in any product adverts but in this case, it works.

When I see ‘East Coast’ that’s exotic, different and exciting to me! And here I get to see ‘West Coast’ too, it’s like the old road trip from my living room, well, sort of, vaguely... I just wish I could hear everyone’s accents at the same time. I could do my ‘Scouse’ impression for a laugh.

Ah Brigid! Now there’s a thought, good sex with Marmite!

Hey do you have that weird marshmallow stuff in a jar, called Fluff I think, it was around for a while then disappeared. Maybe not American. Maybe just more furniture stuffing made into a foodstuff.

Okay seriously. For myself only: watch ‘Six Feet Under’. H has a negative response to the first ‘chink’ bar of the music. But I watch it anyway.

Hi All,

This is a great thread.  I don't know anything about Marmite either, but I agree it is fun to hear about.  Here are my pleasures...

- Sipping coffee and cream while reading online (my favorites are this board and a couple of others)

- Listening to music (generally I like modern female crooners and alternative rock bands)

- Watching Monk or Curb Your Enthusiasm with my husband

- Going on adventures with my daughters (3 and 5 yrs)…I love experiencing new places and I love even more watching my kids experience new places.  This could be as simple as a new bookstore or park.

- Playing racquetball with my H (mostly for the humor factor and just being alone with him while the kids are having fun elsewhere)

- Reading (non fiction these days, although I’m looking forward to picking up the latest Harry Potter)

- Jogging when the weather is nice

- Gardening

- Scrapbooking

- Working on our house (it is satisfying!)

- Driving around in the car on a beautiful day listening to music

- Going to garage sales (I love a good deal)!

Bye,
Learning

Could the prawn things be Skips? Melt on your tongue etc etc !

I love good sex too and find it the hardest thing to let go of my ex for. He may have been a total nutcase out of bed, but in it he was an angel!! And he keeps offering. I am being so strong willed in saying no! Let's face it I'm not going to get any for a while as my post pregnant body will be enough to scare a grown man for a while! I just keep telling myself that giving in to him would NOT be worth it. Then go and have marmite on toast to cheer my self up !!

Also looking forward to the new Harry Potter book!! When is it out in the states? 16th of July is the day here!! Can't wait! Child at heart obviously! Either that or a little bit mad!

Competing with my fiancé on who can come up with the silliest name for the baby (Hey Vunil! Wanna talk pregnancy? Bring it on!)

Oh, my, absolutely!  In fact, I can give you a silly name to throw in the ring. My current leading female name is "Poppy."  I think I like imagining how my very proper use-the-right-fork episcopalian conservative "that is not how things are done" N parents would respond to having to call their granddaughter "Poppy."  It isn't a even a family name!  Gasp!

But I do like to grow poppies (and every other kind of flower). I could explain that she is named after a particularly nice flower I saw this spring. That should make their toes curl.

Maybe I'll name her Poppy Marmite :)

PS finding out I actually can eat "stinky cheese" if I want to, just by heating it up, has made my day.
PPS  any other pregnant ladies find that their tastes in food suddenly changed?  I might actually like yeasty stuff on toast now.  I'll have to seek it out.  Currently I feel that pancakes are the ultimate food.  I didn't like them before.
PPPS Absolutely, we have marshmallow fluff! And it is the most American thing possible.  Full of sugar and chemicals. Yum.  Good with peanut butter. I feel a craving coming on...

I liiiike it. It has a certain elegant quality. I like Poppy too, very happy name. :D

I can't get Fluff any more. Maybe for the best. I'll stick just with the SunPat.

This is a part of being pregnant that I hate.  I'm single, too, and like flirting and kissing and all of the fun dating single gal stuff.  I even used to like short-term affairs, just for the sex, as long as everyone knew the score. Ok, so sometimes I just forget that at the moment I look like the stay-puft marshmallow man. I find myself staring and flirting and all of that stuff and more often than not I get this sort of shock from the man-- why is that marshmallow flirting with me?

Alas.  Some do seem to like it, though, in a kind of sweet way.

You know what I would love love love?  Some advice on what to wear while developing a marshmallow shape. I have no idea. Maternity clothes look super-weird on me now (I'm not that far along, and anyway I think that most of the clothes just are weird) and buying a size or two up in regular clothes  gives me a walking-window-curtain look.  Also, a lady wants to show off her new um... upper region.  Never having had one before, this is a nice bonus.

So, it's off topic (but Bunny won't mind, right?), but the help would be helpful.  The N in me hates looking ridiculous and has no idea how to do better.  If I can't get laid (and let's face it, I'm not going to) then I want to at least look cute :)

From the pregnant ladies I see these days, the fashion is to show it off and be proud.  No more of those Omar the Tentmaker dresses.  Wear spandex stretched tightly over that expanding belly.  Those plunging necklines will be great too to show off that new "development."  The "glow" will make you cute and desirable as well.  I'm so envious of what you have to look forward to.  I loved being pregnant and babies are the best thing ever.

Another favorite thing would be the smell of your baby when they are snuggled up close.

Vunil: How about Marshmallow Marmite, could work for both a boy or a girl! And why is it that you can name a girl Poppy or Rose but not Rhododendron? Or Gladioli? Wish I could help you with the clothes, but so far the only thing on me that has grown is my chest. (Yes! Yes! Yes!) Oooohhh, I love Marshmallow Fluff, it's the best! Don't know if I could get any here though.

Hi Portia,
Yep CYE is inspired and hilarious.  The improv in the show is amazing and it seems so real and so funny!  I love laughing at the narcissim too. 8)

I haven't seen Six Feet Under yet but plan to rent it from the library.  Alas, we don't have cable and rely on DVDs for our entertainment.

Hi Cadbury..
Well...as a Harry Potter fan, I'm sad to say I still have not read the last book so soon I'll be 2 books behind.  I don't know when the next book comes out but hopefully I'll be ready for it.  I guess it is the kid in me that likes the book.  The abuse Harry gets from his family hits home.  His special powers and his ability to triumph over evil is a great fantasy.  Not to mention Ms. Rowling's genius.  Good fun.

Hi Vunil...Congratulations on your pregnancy.  This is an amazing time for you!  Enjoy it!  Regarding maternity clothes...I never did quite figure that out.  Although, there are definetly alot of beautiful maternity clothes available.  And now it is even acceptable to show your midriff while pregnant (I was not comfortable enough with my body to do that, but I have friends who do and look great).  If you can afford it, live it up and buy those cute materinity outfits like at www.motherhood.com.  Have fun.

Take Care,
Learning

Portia

We have Fluff but it's not something that I would eat.  Never had my kids try it....maybe I'll pick up some.

I live in a 'burb about twenty five minutes outside of Philadelphia.  Ever tried a cheese steak, soft pretzel, or water ice?  Yummy, yummy in my tummy.  :)  Water ice weather is right around the corner.  My brother owns and operates two franchises that sell water ice/ice cream, and pretzels.  And guess what? My kids and I get free water ice all Spring and Summer!!!! Can't wait!

Good sex is also something that I enjoy doing.  During my first marriage to X N that was unheard of.  It was absolutely horrid. I used to blame myself since X N was my first.  Now with H it is almost as if I am experiencing a sexual awakening.  Totally awesome.  I know it is because I love him so much and trust him beyond belief.  He is my true life partner.  Okay, I'll stop gushing now.
