Because of power outages and my problem reading long posts on the computer I have missed a lot of what is happening on this website from the original katrina post.

Can't we start over and it not be a competitive event?

Who is affected by either storm????????????????????????????

Who needs assistance eg somewhere to stay????????????????

Who needs their details relaying to FEMA or another agency???

Who has lost contact with loved ones and needs them traced??

Let's put practicalities first and acknowledge what needs to be done.

I will check back in an hour or two and find out meanwhile what govt agencies are asking people to do.

I am very grateful that you came through Rita relatively unscathed, Write.  And sorry for all those who are not so fortunate.

How are you doing Write?


I am making a list of the parishes and small towns affected by Rita. I'm going to adopt one small town the size of mine and start my own small collection of items. I don't have much money myself but like the adoption idea. It think it will be the town where the hurricane made landfall. Just a gut feeling.
