I've read the book which is interesting but I have a very strong feeling that it is a powerful marketing tool and that the message is available in other forms with more specifics.

Hi GS,

I felt the same way-- --marketing.   Or a re-write of The Power of Postive Thinking!

I was waiting to see what they were selling--I felt like as Amway person had invaded my domain.

Now for this: it was my daughter who sent me the DVD, after saying that she was sending me a gift: one that had changed her life.

I see that she and I are in different mindsets right now!
...........Sadly

just one opinion-

I have a problem with the particulars. When asked how to deal with overweight, the author states something close to:

when you see overweight people, just look away - instead, ponder on your ideal weight.

etc, etc.

??

Just doesn't make sense to me. Look away? Do nothing to fix?

I don't understand this kind of thinking.

Oh Izzy.  I actually see this as VERY positive.  She really wants to reach out to you.  Putting myself in her shoes, it would be a real stretch for me to send something like that to my mother or father.  I would do it as a way to connect.  I find some of the material of interest but the book lacks the kind of specifics that are helpful to me.  None-the-less, I see her offer as a real attempt to reach you and I encourage you to find something you connect with in the DVD to share with her.  I think it is a great opportunity for you two to have a dialogue.  REALLY - your friend - Gaining Strength

Hi dandylife

My take on the overweight is that if someome is overweight and wants to lose weight, then don't look at other overweight people, as the DVD is trying to have people focus on what they want--- therefore look for a slender figure. Think Positive thoughts of being slender --booga booga-- and you will be.

The word 'visualize' was used but it was admitted a hard one to do, so to visualize what it is you want and follow the law of acceptance!

Make sense?  I hope so, as I must respond to GS next about something--that I found commentable, with which I agree.

Love
Izzy

Well the one thing is that there is reference to Quantum Physics and that is what she had sent to me before--the tapes that were on the Internet-- About being positive. About Energy. Yes. You are right (I'm so slow sometimes.) I so liked the  Bruce Lipton? tapes on the Internet that I can see.............yes I can see.... Oh I was blind but now I seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-------------------hooray-----no more wandering in the darkenessssssssssssssssssssssss

Hallejuliah! Let the sun shine on me and mine -yayyyyyyyy yassssssssssssss babeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

There's a huge article (and enormous pile of letters) on salon.com about Oprah's pushing of The Secret...

You may find it interesting.

Thanks you Hops

Hey bean!!!

Hard to stomach eh? Well you said it, but I can agree. I was treading softly and carrying an Uzi.

I don't know what INTJ is!

I agree, no harm and it was a gift. There is something though, when talking about energy, how they connect one little atom or molecule or nucleus or whatever and can keep on taking steps one little one at a time to make the energy of everyone all connected in the Universe.

I sure would like to try to light up New York City alone for what was it --3 months? then I would believe!

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Oprah's ugly secret http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2007/03/05/the_secret/index.html
By continuing to hawk "The Secret," a mishmash of offensive self-help cliches, Oprah Winfrey is squandering her goodwill and influence, and preaching to the world that mammon is queen.

Ewwwwwwwww and my daughter's life has changed becauseof this? I hope for the better

As well
Ir reminds me of my other sister hooked for 20 years in the pyramid scheme of Amway, so POSITIVE that she'd be a millionaire one day. She's still scrubbing floors and walkiing dogs!
