Visualization tapes?

(1/2) > >>

Hi, all.  A woman I work with is having panic attacks.  She is now in therapy and also trying various medications but is having difficulty coming to work (where a MAJOR attack happened).  A couple of times I've done some visualizations with her ...describing relaxing on the beach etc....and it seems to work well for her.  I'm wondering if any of you know of any visualization tapes or CDs that describe some place to take your mind (as opposed to just making nature sounds etc.)?  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Last year when my brother-in-law was battling lung cancer (always terminal from the day of diagnosis), I sent him some tapes to help him deal with the cancer, with chemotherapy, radiation, and later with dying.  I also got him sister some grief tapes (or CD's, whatever you prefer).  Here is one of the places I ordered from:

http://www.healthjourneys.com/index.asp

They have many different types for all kinds of problems.

They both said the tapes were very helpful because it helped center Joe when he was about to panic and one side was for pure relaxation.  There are tapes or CD's for whatever ails you, mentally or physically.

There are many other places to order from, this is the one I could remember off the top of my head.

My sister still uses some of the tapes to help her sleep when she is having trouble doing so.  After Joe died, we gave the cancer and dying tapes to his cousin, who was also dying from lung cancer at the same time.  She died 3 weeks after Joe.  Both of them were 46.

As a post script, don't smoke.  If you do, quit.  It kills, I saw it with my own eyes.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Here I am replying to my own post...We got CDs from Awakened Minds that are fantastic.  They were recommended by my Trager practitioner and she was right!  They sound like falling rain but are powerful and each one is different.  You can get the Insight and Focus CDs as a set.

I recommended them on another forum and someone who bought them also raved about them.

Thanks, Rosencrantz--that's helpful info.  The person I recommended the Awakened Minds CDs to on another forum had said she had tried the Holosync ones and disliked them.  I have no personal experience with them.

The AM one I feel more strongly about is Focus.  I like listening to it when I'm writing.  My husband, on the other hand, loves the Insight CD.  He had difficulty sleeping before (too much on his mind) and does not when he uses it occasionally.  AM warns on the Insight CD to ramp up its use slowly to allow yourself to acclimate to it.
