AMEN SISTER!

I love this....

Every morning when I rise,
I want the devil to say:

"Oh no, she's awake!!     "

michael:
for christians....
well unfortunately modern traditional doctrine usually
wrongly i think includes..
eternal hell
which i think the greek of new testament does not support
see

Michael,

For Christians...  isn't "modern traditional doctrine" an oxymoron?

I understand that there is a great deal of confusion in the organized "Christian" church of our day, along with heavy doses of false teaching.

For the reference of those interested, here are just a few passages which plainly (imo) state that not all are saved:

Matthew 7:13-14
Matthew 22:14
Luke 13:22-27
Romans 9:27

Personally, I see no call in Scripture to debate or defend the doctrine of hell.
As I understand it -
the challenge of the Bible and of the Holy Spirit, in the Word, is not  - "what do you believe about hell?"
but rather,
"Who do you say Jesus is?"

Again, as I understand God's Word - everything rests on the answer to that one question.

i suspect that those who feel put off from the bible and jesus by some of what has been done in jesus' name
and the bible..
and yet live better the golden rule than christians who make it to heaven..
they do not go to hell and maybe are better off in heaven than the believing christian...
plus for me the bible includes reincarnation as part of the salvation plan...
for information on such i suggest the edgar cayce material
tho it is not without fault
i think it is one of the better modern sources on such matters

Michael,

I hear what you're saying.

Mankind's concept of the Golden Rule is one thing. God's summary of all His law into two commands is another - the chief command being to love the Lord our God. What I've seen is that I cannot do that for myself, simply by choosing. Operating under the power of my own will, I fall flat every time... because I'll often choose self above God and others.
So to me, it's not about trying to make good (follow the Golden Rule) - it's about being made new.

My own views about believing... well, the devils believe, and they tremble. People can "believe" and yet refuse to "receive"... in which case a heart change is not effected. When belief does not bring about a calling upon the Name of the Lord, there is no rebirth... and consequently, no salvation. For many years, I myself was in the "believing but not receiving" zone... quite religious, and yet quite spiritually dead.

You know what really amazed me as the Holy Spirit began to tug at my buried heart?
It is the goodness of God which leads people to repentance.
I spent so much time and effort trying to do the "right thing"... when, all along, it was as simple as that: recognizing that God is good and I am not, calling on the name (the power and authority of Jesus Christ), repenting, and allowing HIM to make me a new creation.

Thanks for giving your thoughts, Michael, and for allowing me to give mine.

Hope

P.S. on edit... another key "revelation" for me was in recognizing what Satan was about when he decided to lead a rebellion against God.
Lucifer did not choose to be "bad" at all. In fact, his five "I wills" showed me that what he was up to = trying to be good ... trying to be "all that and a bag of chips"... apart from God.  And that was me.
