Snuggling my children close.

Good days when they/the children seem to "get it" and we don't struggle so much.

Knowing it'll be OK, even if it's not OK.

Having a spot on day where I feel in the zone and I'm competent and my thinking is clear and I don't question it.

Definitely not 8 macroons.  :(

I do always feel good when I grow still and notice my dog...and let delight rush over me. There she is.
I get down on the floor and talk to her in a very gooey + goofy voice, and she responds with grunts, violent sneezes and not-so-subtle suggestions I rub her tummy. During those moments, I am completely present and forget everything else.

I have a yearning for the companionship of animals.

When answers come from God.  Gentle and firm and help me to look up.

Playing funny faces  with my 3 year old daughter, talks with my 9 year old son, snuggles with my 6 year old son, and decorating everything! with my 7 year old creative daughter.

Times lately with my husband.  When his blindness isn't blindness anymore and he is available to love me.  The seeds we have planted are starting to sprout.  It feels really good.  Not quite able to trust.  But definitely able to take a deep breath.

Thanks for the question.  Answering it gave me warmth tonight!

Hi Izzy,
That's a great topic.
At the risk of sounding like an N, I'd have to say that I believe I'll meet my maker & live in heaven when I die. I know I'll be judged, but I know my father in heaven is merciful. He knows that I already suffered enough on this earth. He also knows I treated my fellow human beings MUCH better than I was taught to do.
Knowing my husband thinks I'm better than an 8 legged frog (inside joke)   8)
gives me much peace. I really believe he has my back. And FRONT, too   Talking to my kids & grandkids. Knowing they love me, too. I'm a GREAT grandma.
Knowing that when I go to sleep tonight I'll wake up in the morning (there's a pretty good chance) with food to eat. I am so sorry for the people that won't!
That if things keep on this way I won't have to eat cat food when I retire, thanks to a husband who is a GREAT hunter-gatherer.
I could go on & on because I am truly blessed. So blessed, in fact, that I feel guilty.
I truly don't deserve all that I have been given. I'm not talking like a victim, I mean it!
And most of all, this board gives me GREAT peace of mind.
I did not have that until the day I hit the register button & started typing.
Knowing the healing had begun. What a fateful day.
Thanks to all my friends here for that precious gift.
Love,
Bigalspal

Knowing that if I have a problem (not just to do with N's) that I can come to this forum to discuss it, and get as many points of view as I get replies, and they're all interesting and helpful!

Wish I'd found this board years ago!

i walk 3 miles around a lake almost everyday. it has been my solace since the abandoment of my xb/f.
it is quiet, and tranquil. Sometimes I think God is waiting there for me to give me that time of peace.

I hate to leave it sometimes.

Hi,

My time and place for peace is the time I spend with God first thing upon waking.  I'm an insomniac so the words 'first thing in the morning' don't apply in my life.  I have to say 'first thing when I wake'.  Anyway, first thing when I wake, I make the same breakfast I've had with a few variations for at least twelve years.  It is one cup of hazlenut coffee, with chips, or crackers, with a couple of slices of pepper jack cheese melted on top.  Sometimes I put pepperoni or salsa over it too.  Then the best part is when I take my breakfast back to bed and nibble on it for forty five minutes to an hour and a half while I have prayer and devotion and journal.  It is such a wonderful time you'd think I would never not do it, but lately I haven't.  I only have a couple of rituals in my life and this is the one that keeps me centered with God, self and others.   One of the things I'll be doing when I go to the mountain retreat is restarting this ritual.

Thanks for this thread.  It has put an exclamation point behind where I find my peace of mind.

Knowing that I have the power to choose my thoughts, my attitude and my actions.

Even when I hurt, I can choose to take a break and feel at peace, for awhile, which helps me get through the hurt, in the long run.

And two things.....music and laughter!  Without them....life would really suck.

Dear tt,

Thank you for giving me a smile this morning :) I feel more centered with God, self, and others just reading about this ritual of yours.
I've interrupted my own couple rituals because of my sense that my husband is quite anti-ritual (when they're someone else's rituals, at least)
and so I'd begun to look at them in a negative light. Not his "fault"... just another witness to my susceptibility to the influence of others.
I haven't tossed out the pepper-jack cheese tho  :)  It's the nibbling that's been lost in the process.
Suddenly I feel that permission has been granted to return to nibbling  :D  Thank you!

With love,
Hope

Hi CH,

You're as welcome as the flowers to post on my thread.
Good to hear from you.  Glad my ritual resonates with you.  It is the absolute most peaceful, calm, exchange with God.  Some mornings the time gets fractured by regular stuff like mom knocking on the door, or the phone ringing or an appointment that interferes.  But most mornings it goes swell.  First I read Oswald Chambers, then several chapters from the Bible, then I pray.  As God imparts His message to me, I write them down.  Sometimes I just journal the things that are on my mind.  I have my prayer journal set up so that when it's done right, I have prayed for every peron on the earth.  I pray for the tribal leaders, the cities, world leaders, the children.  My heart is very tender toward little children and so many are suffering.  Of course I pray for friends, family, extended family, community, the rivers and oceans. I pray for the whole earth.  Nibbling as I pray just makes it more special.

There are quite a few from VESMB who are on my prayer list.
