Based on my recent experience, just tell him the truth or something very close to it.  Ns can't handle the truth.

In my case, since I've let loose,  she hasn't said anything outside of the direct point of the conversation, they stick to the subject.  In fact, she has continued to lie to protect herself and is trying to punish me by not saying a word.  When I saw her this week, I arrived, picked up my things, heard a couple of her projections and lies and all I said was "see you in court".  Of course, she greeted me with a very friendly "Hi.  How are you doing?"  So I'm in the process of finding an attorney and want to get my money and be done.  She musted be PO'd at me bec. I'm not treating her the same as her previous husbands.  They still talk to her and have a friendly relationship.  Once I reclaimed myself I went back to a boundary line I had before I got swept in; I don't talk to f*****up people.  It hurts alot, I still pine at times but I will have her go away.

I've found that since they have a lofty opinion of themselves, you be pushing a button where you're perceived as a know nothing. Hopefully, just like me, you'll be dismissed.  It hurts but it's very healthy for you.  Be strong and ride the storm out.
