Dear Lighter, Beth, and CB,
Hugs to you; I was in an irreverent mood yesterday and thanks for not being upset with me.
I do not have children yet; it is encouraging to hear that some of you had your little ones close to 40 (I am 37) . I've never felt that I could cope as a single mother, and I kind of feared winding up divorced and depending on my mother for help (ie giving her power to abuse me further). I still hold that fear; its very deep with me. But my urge to love and nurture is so strong, maybe I'll talk my man into having our own little ones soon. I really can't think of anything more fulfilling.
Lighter, hon, the empty nest is part of it. It means that its time to surround yourself with cute baby animals; a dog preferably. See,, its not so bad when you think of it that way, hmm?
Beth, I don't know if what makes me happy would work for you, but to be happiest I need to spend part of my day doing creative things and part of the day with animals or otherwise nurturing another living being (I visit the park and feed the local wild birds each day) . `Nurturing' is so fullfilling to me; perhaps its a woman thing? Creativity is so fullfilling too.
Anyway, i hope that you will find your balance again soon; its not always easy to find ourselves, I know.
