I've been wanting to share this for a while because it seems like people here might get something from it as I did.
This is a physical 'exercise' that is no sweat at all.
Turn down or turn off the lights. Sit either comfortably cross-legged on the floor, or comfortably in a chair. the point is to be easeful.
Adjust your seated position so that your weight feels balanced on both sides.
Now gently sit with a straight spine and roll your shoulders down and back so that your shoulder blades sit comfortably on your back.
Close your eyes.
We are going to zero in on our center so that we feel in balance. Pay attention to how your body is feeling right now. Do you feel like you are leaning a little forward? A little backward? Sideways? Are you hunched one way or another?
Gently adjust yourself so that you are closer to a feeling of physical balance and centeredness. Then examine your internal state again. What adjustments can you make to come closer to physical centeredness? Again gently adjust. Do this as a process as you continue to feel your way toward centeredness and balance - it's a dynamic stillness like a spinning top.
What does balance feel like? What qualities does it have? What sense impressions of your internal self do you have?
Rinse and repeat.

The first time we did this in a class I took, I was centering away and was taken aback to have an impression of internal fizziness, like I was filled with champagne bubbles. Most odd! But fun and serenity inspiring.
