Adding self care back to my life
« on: April 22, 2008, 08:43:08 AM »
Yesterday I met with my martial arts instructor and did a medium light boxing workout..... cardio work.

Ouch.

He didn't push me to the point I had to lay down in order to breath..... which I appreciated.

Though my back and neck protested.... it felt good to warm things up..... feel the familar cadence of movement I used to know so well.

Old friends.

 It was good.

I saw my T then went to the house I renovated years ago, to dig up plants I chose, planted and nurtured before my life fell apart.

Blue green hosta I love but can only grow in a few places, never sure why it thrives here and there, but not anywhere else in the yard. The huge hosta that grows 2 feet high and always makes me smile at it's impossible size.  Lillies.... the lillies of my childhood pond memories...... lots of those and the ferns I planted years ago and just now turn my eye to.  Under the deck.  Large and lush adn a surprise.  I'll gift those to the neighbor with a koi pond and babbling fountain.... a tree swing 200 feet high that swings over the creek..... that my children and I have become accustomed to and made welcome to enjoy.

Digging in the dirt continues to be a balm for me..... so much serenity to be found there.

Today I visit my church and embrace the clergy members who've stood by and supported me.

I'll pick up the woman who introduced me to this church and we'll sit quietly in the pews and talk to Go and Mother Mary..... no distractions.

I can't tell you how much peace and comfort I feel when I look forward to my day.

Amber..... the visit to the church was lovely.

I spent alone time and time with Auntie Helen in the pews..... I prayed for things I didn't realize I wanted.

I "connected the dots" and was surprised at some of the thoughts that came to me.

I always pray to see the truth more clearly..... not sure why it still surprises me.

The day just got better from there when I took AH home and walked her yard with her..... talking about what we'd dig up and move around next weekend after church.

It's walking meditation with someone I love... who love's me.

Then I read Izzy's posts, got up out of my computer chair and went into the yard with my children...... jumped on the tramp for an hour, watched my 5yo water the pots we planted together..... luxuriated in the pride she takes from a job well done.... lit the grill and cooked hotdogs with her.  She served and took her job very seriously.... my 7yo said it was the best hotdog she'd ever had and gave me a big hug.

Pleasure.

Tomorrow is promised to no man.....  all we have, for sure, is this moment: )

Thanks to Izzy for reminding me of that.

Lighter,

I am so pleased that you are loving the gentle things in your life.  Thinking of you.  By the way my experience of hostas is they just love the shade.  Keep gardening and enjoying the blessing of those children.

My nature is calm and relaxed, to tell ya the truth.

The world's stirred my pot but..... serenity has always been my quest in life.

Even when I didn't know it.

((Axa and Amber))  Thanks for the gentle words..... I appreciate them right now.
