So this is how my last week went.
« on: August 29, 2008, 12:52:48 AM »
Last Thursday, I call my son, and find out he is out of town for the day..Oh..ok, have fun..be carefull...I'm going through the changes so I can't fall asleep and the next day I have an appointment with my little guy, checkup..so I can either..blob looking at the tv ..ho drum or clean so the next day I wouldn't have to...I picked cleaning...at 4AM ..just when I'm getting ready for lights out..the phone rings..collect call from my older son that he could not find his friends and he didn't know what to do....I always told my kids if you stuck don't be scared  to call me....and he did the right thing...except he was 3 hours away...So half way there..he found them...I turn around and was able to make my little guys appointment....

So now it's Sunday and my older son CALLS ME...meet me at the hospital I cut the tip of my finger off at work...So now to the hospital...they sew it back on....

Mon was ..my little son falling cutting his knee hiding it from me because he had a root canal and 4 update shots from the doctors..
He runs in takes a shower and I'm thinking..wow..he really is getting to be a clean freak now...until 5 hours later..I see this big red thing on his knee when his shorts lifted up..his shorts are below his knee...and he needed stitches..but it was hours before..so he got lucky..cleaned it up and I bandaged it ..all is good..healing.
Tues was.. A girl who use to live in the neighborhood..died from a long fight with cancer..49.

Wed. My husbands brother in Laws business caught fire..

Thurs..I decide to go to walmart with my daughter late night...and my 13 year old tagged along...We shop..We leave...and I am always aware of my surroundings..I guess cause I come from the city....so we go to the car...and I notice movement from my left side few cars over..see  a person...we pack up we get out on the main road...and see a cop car with lights going...then we see another, then another, then another...total of 7 police cars....So we look and they are going in walmart area....We see a car stopped surrounded by the police....My daughter thinks ..drug deal...I'm thinking no it has to be bigger then that....We go home....

Well it was a robbery a few cars down from us.....a 17 year old took out a gun and demanded money from a man putting his bags in his car...the man was 28....he said he had no money he used his debit card....the man puts the car door between him and the robber..anotherwords he was trying to enter his car...the robber gets angry..points the gun in his face and demands money..the man pulls out his wallet..drops it...and then drops to the floor...the robber...shoots through the window but the man was down....only to pull out his hand gun and return fire....shooting the robber in the leg..and he was legal and licenced to carry....the robber flees...the cops come and find him trying to bury the gun in the bushes, mulch, claiming he was the victim......
So hurray for the good Guys here...and..thank God he was not harmed....

Which made me think...OMG..it could have been Me with my children and my daughter would have freaked by my son, my 13year old, would of took off or fainted..I don't know...

It's a shame when I had to go through a lesson that if anything ever happens he is to listen to me..to be instructed by me..to run..if I say run..to stay and be quiet if I say so..and to let me..handle the situation...

And a 17 year old who did this...My God..which didn't turn out to how he thought it would be...that man..actually saved his own life and didn't take the robbers..just wounded him..

I can't imagine the control he had in such a tense, frighting time...

Thurs...good but my daughter had a blow out with her tire...my son had to go with his friend to change it..with his bad finger...

I hope this weekend..is calm...

Did you ever have days like this.. so many in a row...

But all in all...I count my blessings..and the others...the neighbor was able to raise her children and have grandchildren, lived longer then they thought ever, my son will be fine, my daughter is fine, I am fine, my son, the robber and the poor man are alive...and justice will be served...

Love
Deb

Yikes, Deb.

Can you take a long weekend to some totally peaceful place?

That's a lot of adrenalin...hope you'll very consciously do a lot of self-nurturing stuff.

Talk to your kids about stress.

love,

That is an incredible week Deb.  Your list of events is just the kind to make you go home, get in bed and pull the covers up.  The most frightening of all is the crime that happened when you and your children were right there!  So frightening - we are all so vulnerable.

Glad that week is over - Take care.
