New year's resolutions 2009
« on: January 01, 2009, 09:57:22 AM »
Anybody has one?

I have to lose 16 ponds. Stop smoking. Stop drinking. Learn assertiveness. Dance hip hop and tango. Recover my freedom. Prepare the best lessons for my students. Exercise everyday.

But #1 have peace and enjoy the present. My son #1 of course, before anything else!

Forgive my mother.

Anybody else?

A couple weeks ago I started tracking my daily eating on www.sparkpeople.com

I really like it and I hope to continue!

(I don't make resolutions because for me they're a set-up for emotional pain...feelings of guilt and failure.)

What I AM doing is enjoying a sense of newness and possibility and focus, and releasing dark old 2008.

It all feels good, I am grateful to be alive and the sun is shining in my window.

love and HNY,

Last year I decided I needed to focus on honesty in all things.  This year I've decided to liberate myself fully via true forgiveness.  And treat others with more kindness and express more interest in their lives.  Open up a little, take more chances emotionally.  It's been a long time coming.

Like Hops, I don't make resolutions. But it is a good time, if arbitrary and contrived, to focus briefly on goals, or things that are becoming, or are, important, to you.  So in that vein, I think I will try to remember to:

Trust myself, my wants, needs, dislikes, intuition.
Trust others to be what they appear to be.
To remember that I almost always give people too much benefit of the doubt. Some people really are that shallow, or that selfish, or that rude. It's not my job to do anything other than accept that.
To remember that all people are just people. There are no gurus or gods who know better than me, or who can cope better than me.

to smile when I feel like it :D coz i know it's contagious.

((((((Portia))))))

1.  to fully realize and put into practing the importance of compassion for everyone and realizing that this includes me
2.  to overcome my obsessions
3.  to get my teaching credential

These are all I can think of at the moment.

Thank you for this thread.

Well, I want to cease and desist inflicting pain on others in whatever ways I may be doing it.

I want to stop moralizing.

I want to learn to respect the boundaries of others and to accept when something does not go my way with peace.

I want to learn to respect my son.

Many times my son says no and I keep tryong until he canges his mind and I hate when somebody else does that to me, I want to respect me son.
