anybody dealing with weight or fitness plans?
« on: January 08, 2009, 07:19:17 PM »
Hi all,
Just wanted to recommend www.sparkpeople.com.

I use it  just for the automated food tracking, which is amazing. And it's free.

I feel no deprivation but it's soooo informative and easy that it's made me more conscious of what I eat.

I've lost about 3 pounds. My aim is to lose no more than 1 pound (half a pound is better) per week, goal's my birthday in late spring.

It's a terrific tool.

Just brewed up fresh ginger tea to sip on all evening for my cold. Put honey in it. Yummm.

love

We don't have a specific plan but......

I asked for, and received, permission to take children into the fitness center.  The kids love it and set a relaxed schedule of 3
times a week.  I let them know it was a priviledge and so they look forward to it..... are very seriouse and respectful of that.

We do machines, stretch..... some yoga and other cool stuff.  I'm a bit sore, as I write this....... feels good.

We're eating more fish..... though we've always enjoyed it.... we're coming up with more recipes, enjoying our time in the
kitchen, still.  My oldest considers it a delicacy...... all seafood, really.

We're eating tons more spinach daily...... wasn't a conscience effort, just happened.  Two of us eat it raw, one likes it sauteed.

I'm drinking tea and rarely make coffee, which is a big switch.  That means I drink more water, less dairy and sweetener.

Hopsy,
The calorie tracking is a great idea... and one I need to start implementing. Another place you can find it (and it is simple too) is self.com
Weight Watchers is running a no-registration special until March. For 39 bucks a month you get meetings and all the online tools.
As for me, I am working out tons at the YMCA, track that progress on FitLinxx and am doing the Wii fit. I need to eat better as I am firmer... but not losing. But I feel strong and healthy which is great!!
Lots of love,
Beth

Wow.
Great to give your girls the gift of their own strength, Lighter!

And Beth, I am awed. You know all this STUFF.

For me it's just been fascinating. It's showing me what my desires are made of.
And the instant pie charts really ease me into more awareness.

It doesn't feel like a jailer. I've come to see SparkPeople's Nuturition tool as "my body's friend--check in!" (like VESM is my heart friend) and I love the visual display. Who knew I make lovely graphs? Who knew I have a magic tape measure? Best of all, it's QUICK.

As to the foods--I find I am eager to enter them. Since Gennulman is so conscious about food and cooking and I am getting closer to feeling confident about getting more intimate...it's been a long courtship through delivious healthy whole food, caringly prepared with him. It's fun!

And I just got into my formerly-tight burgundy cords.

I gained 10 lb during the holidays. Need to go back where I was before.

Having W made me more hungry. Ate a lot.

Ugh -although I am doing the exercise, it is definitely time to start monitoring my eating. It is really not what I eat... but how much. Oh well, back to the drawing board to see better results.
Kisses all.
