Discussions with narcissists can be really weird and disconcerting; they seem to think that using some of the same words means that they are following a line of conversation or reasoning.

Thus, they will go off on tangents and irrelevancies, apparently in the blithe delusion that they understand what others are talking about. And, frankly, they don't hear all the words, either. They can pay attention only to stuff that has them in it.

Is that a quote from something or your own thoughts?  Is it meant to relate to the board or to your own situation?  Are you seeking meaning or taking pot shots?  Is it a question or an answer?

Thank you for that quote.
I'll add it to my collection of phrases, explanations and affirmations that help keep the "N" behaviour in perspective.

That seems a bit derogatory, and unnecessary, IMO.
Let's try to think twice before making comments that are a bit rude.  It shows a lack of respect for one another, and we have enough of that in the N world, IMO again.

Just how old are you all, anyway?  May I suggest another website that would be more aptly suited?  www.romperroom.com

Ah yes - Ashmun.  That was one of the first websites I found after HRH Sam Vatkin.  Thought it was brilliant.  Brilliantly shocking.  Spoke to me loads.  But then I discovered some of it came off the Vatkin site.  I was disappointed and felt cheated as I was trying to find stuff that wasn't 'out of the mouth of Vatkin' and she hadn't attributed the material elsewhere.  So I couldn't work out what was original to her and what wasn't.

I'd still like to understand the point you are making.

If you go along with stuff blithely assuming you are understanding it then you're a narcissist; if you ask questions IN ORDER TO understand, then you're paranoid.

Is that it?  Der!

Get a life, someone.

Who the heck is Sam Vatkin???

I'm afraid you're lost in the flock again Firebird--

But "good try' dear !" <placating head pat>

You probably won't even understand this message--poor thing.

Simply responding to what's there!!

Apparently, according to one of the guests here, if you ask questions to understand someone's meaning, you are paranoid. (Oh, really!)

But another guest has already suggested that if you 'assume' to understand, then you're a narcissist.

Ergo, second guest has just tried to put me in the usual no win situation I find myself in when dealing with my mother.  And she ain't the full (?whatever that saying is).

I'm grateful that I am able to see it and respond to it rather than be  beaten and frightened and shamed by it and not understand what's happening to me.

And I'll give myself some credit for that, even if nobody else will.
