Title: Psychoanalysis's last breath
Post by: Dr. Richard Grossman on August 27, 2012, 12:41:31 PM
Hi everybody,

Psychoanalysis appears to be finally breathing its last breath in New York.  This cartoon from the  August 27, 2012 issue of the New Yorker:

Wait a second.  Yes, there’s no market here, but we can export it to….you know the place with all the money….China!  No couch or fancy office with a picture of Freud needed.  Only Skype!

Better yet, if we can convince enough wealthy Chinese patients of psychoanalysis's therapeutic value, we can significantly reduce the trade deficit.  Has Obama or Romney thought of this?

If the poor countries madly Westernizing don't need it today,
they will soon!

Hopefully, they'll hold fast to their meditative traditions...

You are feeling your psycho-oats, Dr. G, and it's a delight!
