Title: "The Master"
Post by: Dr. Richard Grossman on October 03, 2012, 11:43:15 AM
Hi everybody,

What happens when a psychotic sociopath meets a narcissistic “healer”?  See Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie, “The Master”.

The movie combines an odd combination of brilliant acting, memorable scenes/cinematography, and no real connection between the main characters (leading to boredom—at least for me).  Still, Anderson “tells the truth”--no connection between these two characters is possible--so the movie is better than standard Hollywood fare.

Thoughts?

Richard

I was so riveted by the extraordinary acting (and visuals) that even
though the characters were repellent I was very glad I saw it.

(Always been fascinated by cults, as they're like "N-groupthink"...

Pretty amazing movie compared to standard fare, I agree!
