I recieved this little parable from my sister today. I thought it was pretty cool.
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?" The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed." - Author Unknown -

Hi Mum,
"The one you feed."
I like the parable. But, here's my question. What if the one you're trying to feed refuses to accept what you are trying to give it? Then what?

Good question, Butterfly.
But the wolves are inside of us and under our control. They are US!
WE get to choose which one to feed by what we focus on. I think the parable assumes that both want and need to eat inorder to be sustained! I don't think it makes much sense, otherwise.
That's my interpretation of it anyway.

Mum I like this it reminds me of the basic addiction theme.
Feed and starve. What ever it is we feed will take charge. Once the feeding into the bad stuff starts and becomes strong it takes over with negative things in our life.
Starving happens because we have so much energy in what we feed.
Turnining addictions around by giving energy to the postive things in life is difficult when these things are weak in us.
Becoming stronger with feeding the happy things take more work sometimes, it would seem the negative things like hate, guilt etc., are such strong emotions they some how have a head start on the feeding.
I would think the other emotions need us to feed them much more and more quickly, with more efforts because of the simple fact these emotions are less agressive.............
Not sure if all of this is correct but it appears intresting thought.

How is your sister and her daughter doing???

15 All [this] have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a righteous [man] that perisheth by his righteousness, and there is a wicked [man] that prolongeth [his days] by his wickedness. 16 Be not righteous overmuch; neither make thyself overwise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself? 17 Be not overmuch wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time? 18 It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from that withdraw not thy hand: for he that feareth God cometh forth from them all. 19 Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty [men] that are in a city. 20 Surely there is not a righteous man upon earth, that doeth good and sinneth not. 21 Also give not heed unto all words that are spoken, lest thou hear thy servant curse thee. 22 For also thine own heart knoweth that oftentimes thou thyself likewise hast cursed others. 23 All this have I tried by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me. 24 Whatever hath been, is far off, and exceeding deep: who will find it out? 25 I turned, I and my heart, to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom and reason, and to know wickedness to be folly, and foolishness to be madness; 26 and I found more bitter than death the woman whose heart is nets and snares, [and] whose hands are bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be caught by her. 27 See this which I have found, saith the Preacher, [searching] one by one to find out the reason; 28 which my soul yet seeketh, and I have not found: one man among a thousand have I found, but a woman among all those have I not found. 29 Only see this which I have found: that God made man upright, but they have sought out many devices.
