I started with Al-Anon as my son went through treatment - inpatient three times before he was 18 - for substance abuse. I've found it invaluable for dealing with my exH N. Five years after marriage, the exH N still seeks to inject chaos intop my life as a control method.
The most powerful tool, for me, is the attitude of gratitude. If I can stay there, I'm in pretty good shape. If you want to try this, use any search engine. There are many resources on the web, including support groups.
And - my son is sober, for three weeks, for the first time in over a year! He has a job he wants to keep, and his boss told him if he comes to work one more time hung over he's fired. Thank god for bosses who don't enable.
