...please pray for my mother. She was taken in for emergency surgery for a subdural hematoma last Saturday, September 10. She came through the surgery fine, but has since lost all responsiveness. There is no obvious cause.

Just stopping by to thank everyone and give a quick update. My mother has a rare metabolic complication that sometimes follows brain surgery. In most people, the imbalance can be corrected, and as the brain heals it regains the ability to regulate metabolism. This is not happening for her. She has "woken up" and relapsed three times now, and each time she does not wake up quite as much. Her physical strength and will to fight are amazing. I will always remember how she smiled at a picture of her youngest grandchild the last time she was awake.
Yesterday, we transferred her to a better hospital in the hope that her condition can be treated more aggressively. We of course don't know whether that will happen, but we felt that we had to take the chance. She came through the transfer just fine, but she is almost totally unresponsive right now, and we have to wonder how much of this her body can survive.
I greatly appreciate your prayers and good wishes. I really believe that she has made it this far only because so many people are praying for her.
