Title: Honey
Post by: mudpuppy on July 31, 2006, 12:02:26 PM
I drove around for awhile yesterday afternoon listening to two songs. The first one is my wife. The second one is me.

Tupelo Honey; Van Morrison

You know shes alright
You know shes alright with me
Shes alright, shes alright (shes an angel)

You can take all the tea in china
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail it right around the seven oceans
Drop it smack dab in the middle of the deep blue sea
Because shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Shes an angel of the first degree
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Shes an angel of the first degree
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like the honey, baby, from the bee
Shes my baby, you know shes alright.....

Below is a verse he later added which applies to her;

Theres a rose pressed inside a bible
That she reads on the balcony
Shes sweet in slumber and Ive got her number
For the beginning of the century.

**********************************

Rainy Day People; Gordon Lightfoot

Rainy day people always seem to know when its time to call
Rainy day people dont talk, they just listen till theyve heard it all
Rainy day lovers dont lie when they tell ya theyve been down like you
Rainy day people dont mind if youre cryin a tear or two
If you get lonely, all you really need is that rainy day love
Rainy day people all know theres no sorrow they cant rise above
Rainy day lovers dont love any others, that would not be kind
Rainy day people all know how it hangs on a piece of mind

Rainy day lovers dont lie when they tell you, theyve been down there too
Rainy day people dont mind if youre cryin a tear or two.

Rainy day people always seem to know when youre feeling blue
High stepping strutters who land in the gutters sometimes need one too
Take it or leave it, or try to believe it
If youve been down too long

Rainy day lovers dont hide love inside they just pass it on
Rainy day lovers dont hide love inside they just pass it on

Hey Mud,
I've always been a lover of Tupelo Honey also.  Van Morrison has a wonderful ability to write beautiful love songs.  My favorite song of all time is Moondance.

Thanks for sharing those thoughts.  Mine are with you.

Hugs,

Brigid

Simple words have big messages don't they.
I just read this Audrey Hepburn quote:

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

awwwwww Muddy  :D,

So glad you started this lovey dovey thread!

"All you need is love, love.  Love is all you need" imo
(and The Beatles's).

Reminds me of that really out to lunch family therapist we went to who ridiculed my having such faith in God by saying:

"It's like the Buddhists!  All the Buddhists do is sit around and looooooooooooove eachother.  Only problem with that is.......they're so busy sitting around looooooooooving eachother.....nothing ever gets done!!"

Why didn't I think to tell him they were doing the most important thing of all??

So now, it's quite a joke and I have been known to yodel out:  "Let's all sit around and looooooooooove eachother!!", when someone asks what we should do next or what do you want to do?  :D

Thanks for passing "it" on Mud (wee heart icon please).

Hey Mud,

Your emotions are palpable.  Isn't it great that we have songs to help us communicate when we, otherwise cannot?  With your songs, I can sense your deep love for your "honey."  I realize how special she is to you and I bet she's a million times worthy of such a tribute!

I pray you have some of "rainy day people" in your life there.  I'll be a rainy day person for you here on the board, if you need.

Stay special and strong, just the way you are Mud!!

Thanks for such a sweet thread, Mud, and this picture of the two of you.

Best thoughts and blessings to you and Mrs. Mud.

In my love/music library, when I add Tupelo Honey & Rainy Day People...I get Shower the People (you love with love).

Or maybe that's just how I see you shining at each other.

mud,

Tonight and in the coming days other realms shall be summoned on behalf of your wife and your family.  My heart is broken for you all.  How frustratlingly human I find myself in that there is nothing more I can offer you from the confines of this screen and keyboard.  As you move through this most difficult challenge I hope you find, at least, some peace in knowing how many are standing behind you in full and loyal support.  God bless, Mud...

Oh Mud!!  That is very difficult news!!  I'm so sorry for all that you are both going through.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Mud & Mrs. Mud)))))))))))))))))))))))

You do have a couple of very wonderful assets that will see you through this.

1.  Your absolute love for eachother (what a miracle!)
2.  Your strong faith in your Saviour (another).

Bless you both in your time of need.   How is your D holding out?

You and your family are in my prayers still.

She starts chemo today.
As she hasn't had any chemo before we are hopeful it will put it into remission and then follow up hormone therapy will keep it there. Metastisized cancer is not curable but it can be held in check for years sometimes when it is still limited to the bones as her's is. She is fortunate in that she has the type of cancer most responsive to hormone therapy.
She is a woman of great faith and is at peace with whatever the outcome is.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

Mud,

I think you do have a lot to hope for.
It is true that the chemo should be helpful since she hasn't ever had it before now.
(That is something I just learned this weekend as a matter of fact  :))

All my best to you and the family.

Hey mud,

Just dropping a line to stay I'm thinking of you and yours and to let you know my prayers are with you. And some scripture to uplift:

You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted, you encourage them, and you listen to their cry. Psalm 10:17

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God, our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. II Thessalonians 2: 16-17

Don't forget to take care of yourself as well, mud

She finished her first round of chemo last friday. She has tolerated it amazingly well. She takes an anti nausea drug which kind of knocks her out for a good portion of the day but she has had no nausea. She still tires easily but gets a little stronger each day.
The big test will come on the 29th when we get her tumor marker test back to see how much the level has dropped. She starts her second round then also.
So far so good.

Unfortunately a friend of ours was just diagnosed with cancer in the liver, pelvis, spine, lungs and neck. Only in his fifties and very fit. Super good marriage and his wife is devastated. They told him six months without chemo, maybe two years with.

It seems like whenever we start thinking 'how could it get any worse' we're always reminded that for someone else it already has.

I'm so glad Mrs. Mud has tolerated her first round so well. Very glad.

I can't express adequately my sympathy on the news about your friend.

It feel like an epidemic, so many people in their 50s and younger.
I don't understand it. Maybe it's only because I'm in those years that I see it?

Please believe me I'm not being sarcastic...I keep having the persistent thought
that in this generation, perhaps it's the accumulation of toxins in the environment.

Still, there is much hope. There are so many people in looong remission.

Please keep us posted.

Just finished her second round of chemo and they gave her something to relax and it relaxed her right out of consciousness.

Overall she's feeling better and stronger.  She's way, way better than when she started. Still tolerating the chemo extremely well.
