I still have plantar fasciitis, my feet hurt like hell, and I wish someone out here in front of God and everybody had had the kindness to ask how I was doing.
-
Which means my heart hurts too, come to think of it. So I will go think of it. Sorry for being a grouch, people.
-
Storm,
It's Ok to grouch. Sorry the feet are still hurting. I'm IMing with daughter this moment. Will write more in a little bit.
I'm back. Storm, How awful an aching heart and aching feet. That ='s hurting everywhere...

Storm,
Sorry you are in so much pain. Wish there was something I could do for you besides just listen.
Hope you feel better very soon.

Sorry about the guilt trip, everyone. I don't know what got into me.
I went away and blogged about something completely unrelated to sore feet.. to get my mind off myself and onto other things.
I feel better now, came back here to apologize, and found your kindnesses. So now I feel better still.
Thank you!!!

Pain is a really insidious thing.
It really does make me self centered... totally focused on what hurts and how much it hurts and what to do about it...
Maybe I needed a lesson tonight. There are so many others whose pain is worse, some whose pain can never be healed in this life.
Nothing like going 'Waaaaaah Poooor MEEEEEEE!' in public to get yer perspective back right quick.
Thanks again.

((((Stormy)))) I'm sorry you're not feeling well and I hope your feet get better soon.

Hi Again.... I found a link that had this information...
Rob Grant
This weekend at the Elk/Beaver noticing a couple of my fellow runners in agony with a foot on a bag of ice, I'll post what finally cured?(I don't like that word) my plantar fasciitis. In desperation I went through the usual gamut of sports medicine therapists, chiropractors and orthotics which only lowered the figures in my bank account. Taping I didn't find practical for day in day out training runs, besides, that tape's expensive and I don't believe anyone's skin can withstand it for long. While browsing the rack of support bandages in a drug store I noticed the Futuro Ankle Brace, $10.95(there's lots of other brands which will probably do the trick), I slipped it on; it seemed to give good support to the arch. After about 3 months of wearing it to run & walk(I slip it over the outside of my sock, otherwise I found it irritated the back of my heel) the pain at the back of my arch was gone. I did try running without it but after a few days I thought I felt a little twinge in the arch so I always just slip one on for a training run. I have run every ultra since Vermont(at about 20 miles the duct tape had bunched up, so off it came, thought it would be useless trying to reapply it on muddy feet so took a chance and ran clean) last year without bandage or tape, so far no pain, but haven't had the courage to tackle a road race yet without the bandage or a few wraps of duct tape around the arch.
This is the link. It's got more info on pain relief. I hope it's helpful.

Sorry we are all knee deep in our own issues that sometimes we forget about our comrades! Hope you get to feeling better!

Seastorm - I have just tuned in since yesterday afternoon and was struck by two things in particular about your post: 1) how many supportive responses you received and 2) how open you are to receiving.
You write: Pain is a really insidious thing.
It really does make me self centered... totally focused on what hurts and how much it hurts and what to do about it...

I agree that pain is insidious and makes us self-centered. I find it true of emotional pain as well. (Suddenly I get how the overload of emotional pain creates Ns.) I am glad you got your perspective back but could the outpouring of sympathy and caring had a small curative effect? I just wonder. Caring responses here seem to have that effect for me.

Hi GS
I'm Stormchild. I can't speak for Sea Storm, because I have no idea if her feet hurt or not; she'll have to speak for herself on that point. I hope they don't, though - it's no fun.
I wanted to let you know that I absolutely did thank everyone who posted, in the post immediately preceding the one that you quoted. Came back just now to thank everyone again, in fact, because a lot of folks have posted since I first said thanks.
Thanks, everyone. Again, and most sincerely. Have to say it collectively, because I'm already going to be late for work and I must go.

This pain I was complaining of seems almost obscenely trivial after what happened at VT on Monday. But I owe people more than a general thanks, and I wanted to say my personal thanks here and now, because it's been brought home to me just how fragile we all are and just what a fleeting gift this life of ours can be...
Thanks, tracks. turns out, I was getting ill with something. which is exactly what happened the last time they hurt this badly. so now I know. I slept more than 12 hours yesterday... not quite well today, but was able to work, anyway.
S&S - thanks for your posts. Do you know... the one pair of shoes that feel best to me now is a pair of Clarks wedgies. Normally I don't wear heels, haven't for years. But these really help. I put them on and go, MMMMMMM!
Thanks Hops. I got magic wedgies! ... Clarks.
Debs, you did something besides listen - you chimed in - thank you - it helped.
Mountainspring, thank you for the link! extremely helpful to see what others have done.
axa, thank you for the kind thoughts.
CB, thank you too. I have a good set of heel inserts, I think it was just that I was about to get ill again, that set off the pain so intensely.
poetprose... thank you... if you've been there, then hopefully you've gotten through it... that's encouragement and then some...!
kell, thanks. so true, and so understandable, too.
GS - thanks for your thoughts too. I scolded you a bit and am sorry; you are right about the support having helped, yet it seemed as though you were scolding me more than encouraging. forgive me for reacting to that, rather than to your good intentions, which I do see much more clearly now.
Nite, all. still not at my best, going to turn in early.

Hi Stormy,
Sorry to be so late on replying, I don't read very often these days, but I hope you start feeling better soon.
I wanted you to know I was thinking of you the other day. I volunteer at our local humane society one day per week socializing bunnies. I have never been a bunny person, but they are starting to grow on me and spending a couple of hours cuddling with furry little creatures is certainly not work for me. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, a 13-year-old Beagle was surrendered because his owner had passed away and no one in the family could take him. I would have taken him in a minute, but knew my cocker would have eaten him alive, and the poor old guy didn't need any more trauma. After 2 weeks he was adopted into a wonderful home by one of the volunteer dog walkers. It was such a relief to me.
I thought about you this week, after the tragedy in Virginia, because like me, you have animals you love, but no family to rescue them if something were to suddenly happen to you. I think I have some friends who dog sit for me who would take the dogs if they could, but I don't know what would happen to my elder cats. My kids don't have living situations which would allow for pets, so they couldn't take them either. It was just one more aspect of the tragedy this week that has saddened me to a point I can't quite get past.
I know I have gone in a odd direction for your post, but I did want you to know that you were in my thoughts. I have no help to offer for the feet or the accompanying illness, but I send good wishes that you feel better soon.
Hugs,
Brigid

Stormchild,
I'm glad Brigid posted what she did because now it feels a bit more "normal" what I'm going to post. I don't know if this is information that you already have, but here goes. They did one of those short little bits on TV about a certain stretching routine that can help bring about significant relief for plantar fasciiitis in 5-6 weeks. I woke up with the TV on in the middle of the night, heard this and thought about you.
As always, they said to check with your doc before trying it, but it seemed a very doable thing when they demonstated it. I don't know if you if you know about this, but they made it seem like it was relatively new.

Thaks Moon..... ((()))
Brigid, would you believe, I worry about that exact thing, all the time. Except tonight I am worrying because one of the four types of food I give my girls is on the recall list... a Royal Canin product. Fortunately I use it as a treat, don't give much, and the main things I feed them are - so far - not on the recall list.
the way this scandal is shaping up, though, I'll be surprised if any variety escapes ultimately. Now it's rice gluten as well as wheat. And they're saying the contamination was deliberate, done to create falsely high analysis results for protein content.
So far my girls seem OK... but I'm watching them like a hawk now.
Cat's Paw... yes, I have seen the stretching exercises and am trying some of them. I do think they make a difference... I do think that I had that relapse of bad soreness because I was getting ill...

I hope this note finds your heart and your feet feeling better. I was thinking of you because I saw an ad for a medicine that treats foot pain of your type. But my Lord it had too many side effects. Has there been anything that has helped?
I just looked over the last posts and see you all had progressed to talking about pet foods. I may go back to a raw diet for Henry. At least I know the food is fine that way. He actually leaves for America tomorrow to stay with Grandma. (I am so sad). I need to mkae sure my husband is careful about what food he gets for him. He has a "hot spot" again. I used Listerine on it as you had recommended Storm. I think he felt some sting from it, but at least I know the wound is clean.
Love, Beth
-
Hi Beth/Storm,
Listerine for hot spots? Never heard of that. How convenient. My little dog buddy has hot spots. I'm going to try it.
Storm, is it possible it would help your feet? Maybe it is like in the movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding where the father used Windex for everything. Hope your feet are feeling better.
