HAS ANYONE SEEN RACHEL DRATCH On Saturday Night Live playing Debbie Downer? So hysterical! But not when you live with the male equivalent of her. WHAT IF SOMEONE DROWNS IN OUR POOL WE COULD BE SUED AND LOSE EVERYTHING! IF WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE SHAKE ROOF IT COULD COST $30000! I KNOW YOUR KIDS WONT HELP OUT! WHAT IF WE DONT SELL OUR HOUSE? WHAT IF WE NEED TO REPAIR THE POOL? And on and on and on and on and on. He is worse Chinese Water Torture than my mom!

You MARRIED your MOTHER(like I did). Ami

My mom is not a downer like that-she is a critical parent. Nothing is ever good enough for her but she is not doom and gloom like him! I told him he is a glass empty kind of guy! I just need a little optimism!

OC-
You have a plan for yourself, and this is your time in the sun. Enjoy and get the most out of your hard efforts that you can! Tell Debbie Downer that things will be OK, then go look at those catalogues of tiny clothes!
Love,

aww (((((Kelly))))) he's scared spitless.
Here, put on this lovely anti-fear glitter-bubble suit and let all those negative waves just bounce up to the ozone.... and I'll be prayin that he lightens up. You know, that drinking is quite a depressant too... I dunno how he'd handle that suggestion, but I sure bet he'd feel better if he lightened up on the alcohol, too! I definitely noticed an improvement without it.
Hang in there!
Love,
Carolyn

No, he runs to alcohol when he's stressed or happy or bored or if it's Thursday (hey tomorrow is the weekend might as well get a jump start !!) Oh, its football season, let's start drinking at 10 am.....he is definitely an alcoholic and that doesn't help anything.....I harrass him all the time about it but I guess if I don't threatened to REALLY do something he'll just keep it up. I have always said that if you want to drink on special occasions go ahead, you know, like once a quarter but three and four times a week is way too much for me!! He also has the same problem I do with portion control. Once he has one he at least has a six and more like 8 to 12!!!

Oh, I'm sorry, Kelly... I thought he'd lightened up on his drinking before and then only just picked it back up heavy recently.
Not good.
Kelly, his concerns about this move and the new house and all... are they legitimate concerns?
I am not trying to make any excuses for his drinking, because there is no excuse. Just wondering whether y'all are going to be okay with all this change right now. Are you locked into the purchase of the new place?

No there concerns are worse case scenarios. If everything goes wrong then yes. He is good for a while and then he gets on a roll and gets out of control-then I give him ultimatums and then he is good for awhile. I also am ripped about the fact that I am doing ALL the work and he has hired people to do his work-the repair and maintenance. Then he complains about my kids not helping and I want to yell WHAT ABOUT YOU? YOU SIT AROUND AND GET DRUNK AND OBSESS!
