I found a couple of articles while poking around this morning about severing ties with abusive parents. I found these in a very timely fashion.

Dear Tayana,
WOW just read the 2nd Link 'ithacamoms' ... 'Severing ties with an abusive parent' By Dr. Rachel Bryant
Indeed very timely.
All of it reads as though the writer is giving testimony of our very own real life experiences through our parent(s)
Well done in finding this article Tay.
Now to go look at the 1st Link!
Love & Hugs,
Leah

Leah,
I bookmarked the articles. I also found a blog post:
http://chasingorion.blogspot.com/2006/03/severing-ties.html (http://chasingorion.blogspot.com/2006/03/severing-ties.html)
I really identified with this, although my brother never collaborated with my mom and her abuse.
That Ithaca Moms article was great though.

Read the 1st Link article entitled "It's OK for children to cut ties with abusive parents"
This has struck my heart .........'It means mourning the parents you didn't have'
Though I was unaware at the time, someone has mercifully highlighted to me that I have gone through a bereavement process
regarding both parents (N Physco Mother & NFather)
and
exNH
The mourning process is very real.
Love,
Leah

Dear Tay,
Likewise, sadly, I too identify with this.
Painful to read but at the same time it reaches your heart with a far reaching awareness that it not only happened to us - the same has happened to others too.
To the point of your thread - when you read of someone else who has had to deal with severing contact; and like myself, faced scorn or pity when disclosing that one has no contact with ones mother ..... because the recipient of ones heart wrenching proclamation most likely has a normal healthy-minded loving nurturing mother ..... you know the one you read about in books!!!
Love & Hugs,
Leah
