Title: wondering...are any of you vegetarians, vegans, lacto-ovo's here?
Post by: reallyME on November 10, 2007, 05:56:14 PM
Due to recent things that I've been researching, I have decided that I'm weeding animal products out of my diet.  I would like to correspond with anyone here who eats a vegetarian diet, please.

I'm a lazy vegetarian, not 100%.
I do eat fish, eggs, and dairy.

Am GENERALLY not eating red meat or poultry.

Simplest thing is just to substitute beans and/or tofu for meat.
And triple your green and bright-colored vegetables. Eat brown rice
every day. Oatmeal in the a.m. Whole grains...try quinoa, great hot or cold.

I'm a pathetic cook. Hope somebody else is helpful.

Great decision RM!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Hoppy...anyone else?

I have discovered recently that my thyroid is a big mess.  I've been on Synthroid and found out too, that Synthroid is a HUGE CULPRIT in link to excess weight gain and worse thyroid problems.

I am going to be seeing a specialist very soon who will do an overall eval on my body and hook me up with some hormone supplementation.

My weight has increased from 180- 190 in a VERY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME and I am very concerned, not just about weight but about other issues such as Diabetes, Hashimotos, Cancer, etc.

Your prayers are greatly appreciated, as I enter on this path to finding some answers about my somatic self :)

I follow his program(loosely)                Love   Ami

Armour is the best for thyroid as opposed to synthroid or any other.  Leah

Armour is the best.

I couldn't agree more.

Especially their big juicy hot dogs, smoked sausages, sweet Christmas hams and polska keilbasas.

Enjoy the bean curd guys. (insert barfing emoticon here)

::picking porkroast out of teeth::

Sorry ReallyME.... no vegans in this house, lol.

But I do like a good veggie burger, and lentils are one of my favorite things.

With rice and a very tart lemony red wine NATURE'S SEASONS Spiced small diced tomato, parsley, cucumber and radish salad.....

and pork chops, lol; )

BTW, is a lacto-ovo some mutant chicken that gives milk?

At first I thought it was some weird female thing; like simultaneously lactating and ovulating but that didn't seem to fit the context. :?

Laura:  I am on Synthroid and you know my weight gain fiasco.  I also am on hormones.  Had the lap band surgery and now I think I am lactose intolerant.  My intestines are going crazy.  Looks like I need to look at some of what you are looking towards too....

I just recently started substituting soy or rice milk for regular milk.  It's more expensive, but I don't really like milk all that much.  I like the rice milk better than the soy, but the soy is all right.

One of the websites was www.thyroid.about.com (http://www.thyroid.about.com)

The lady I will be seeing hopefully soon, that is going to help me figure out something to aid my hormones, is from a group called Bodylogics.

http://www.bodylogicmd.com/ (http://www.bodylogicmd.com/)

The situation of my deciding to become a lacto-ovo veg. had to do with info from a website that is pro animal-rights.  The site is called Mercyforanimals.org (http://Mercyforanimals.org).  I also belong to PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals).
I am horrified that, though we sit here talking about abusers, so many innocent animals go through torture and death as well.  I realize my stand is controversial, but I love creation, and that includes furry, feathery and leathery beasts.

Factory farming.
