Title: N's and testing one, two, three
Post by: reallyME on November 13, 2007, 08:42:04 AM
Have any of you felt that you were being either "watched" or "tested" by the n's in your lives?

I was again reading my Bible this morning, and I came across an interesting thing.  One of X's favorite things to do, all in the name of ministry, was to be sure that you could not be moved off what you believed.  She would ask you questions that caused you to doubt  your original stand and then she'd say "I'm very upset because I should not be able to move you off what you say you believe!"  She was one of the best "movers" I have ever met!  X had a way of really gettin into your mind and making you doubt things that you stood for for years!  It's a double-bind sort of thing.

This morning, I came across a scripture that I believe talks about this very thing:

Psalm 13 v 3,4

"Consider and hear me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes,
Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest my enemy say,
I have prevailed against him;
Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved."

Yes, I feel that the people in my faith community are watching me to see what my next move is...they are threatend by my righteousness and my courage. There also has been some gossip about me. My next move is just to give a wide birth to anyone who can't treat me with the respect that I deserve.  God will triumph.

Dear Laura,
  I think that you are talking about 'gas lighting" or trying to take away our reality. They try to so confuse us that we don't know which end is up. Then,I guess, that they can manipulate us better-bleh

Gab, this sort of made me chuckle...didn't you mean a wide "girth" as in space between you and them?  I'm not so sure you'd want to "birth" people who can't treat you with respect.

Yep, that is funny...My old Freudian therapist would have a field day with that one. I think I could say that I am going through so much healing, last night I felt more hope, but I cry so many tears, at times I feel as though I am gaining new eyes to see with.

Perhaps I feel as though I am giving birth to a new self that will not allow others to hurt her anymore.  :P

Thanks for catching that...If you read my posts I can leave a trail of good slips, but sometimes they are just typos.

your were okay gabben with berth--just spelled it incorrectily

give someone/something a wide berth
to avoid someone or something. I try to give the city centre a wide berth on a Saturday. If she's in a bad mood I tend to give her a wide berth.

girth is usually in reference to something like somone's waistline
 a: a measure around a body <a man of more than average girth> <the girth of a tree> b: size, dimensions

Just a vocabulary lesson for the day!

AH Leah

I have another version of that..............................................Isn't it the most interesting fact about us and our reading?.............................
............................ but I cannot imagine tackling a whole book written that way!
