 Dear Kimberli,
  I can relate to your story very well. Your M sounds like mine--a classic N.
 I can just now face the "blank" look. I did all the things that you did to make her "real" and "normal(trying to do well in school etc).
  I had to be careful to be "good ,but not too "good" b/c she would get jealous. It was a fine line.
 You had to be the "adult" when you were just a child. That is part of why we are "fakes". Other kids were developing their identity.We were trying to save our sanity.
  A child can't develop when they have to parent an out of control N. We go in to auto pilot. It was not your fault,Kimberli.
  You had to develop survival skills. Then, when you are an adult,they were "stuck" to you and your life didn't  work.
  You were alone,as you said ,and simply had to try to survive without crumbling.
  I think that you will feel right at home here. Many people had N mothers.

Thank you. Ami. I think I have come to right place too. I can't remember how I got here but it was probably thru a Google search.

  Thank you for sharing more of your story.I was utterly fascinated. You sound like a charming  person. I am so, sorry about the many painful experiiences.

Dear Kimberli,
  You are  talking about not being "integrated". THAT is what we are trying to do here,on the board. We are trying to find our true voice(integration)
  You are in the right place. You simply "morphed' in to s/one who you didn't even know. That is how I read your story,anyway.You HAD to do it in order to survive. It really was not a choice.
