Title: Hey...did anyone watch Good Morning America this morning???
Post by: reallyME on December 13, 2007, 02:59:23 PM
The mother of the guy that shot 8 people and then killed himself in Nebraska at a mall, was on tv being interviewed.

Personally, I think she was/is mentally ill.  If you watched it, I'd like to know what you think.

She said she considers the guy still her "little boy" and she just kept saying things over and over again, when asked what she thought about the shootings:  "it was massive...massive...confusing...confusion...disturbing..."  Listening to that just brought back some odd memories.

What do ya'll think?

RM,

I didn't see the TV program.  So I can't comment or make a judgment based on the show.

Personally, I think it is an embarrassment to humankind that anyone would ask  for or expect  a coherent statement after what she has experienced, let alone one to be broadcast for the world to see and judge without having stood in her shoes.  In her place, I might go around the bend permanently.

I think he will always be her little boy.... that's supposed to be a mama's job, right?

I didn't see the program since I had to work, however, I doubt she was mentally ill.

I agree with TT, I think it's pure sensationalism to put the woman on TV after she's lost her son, and then she has to deal with her son's actions too.

He will always be her child.  She loved him, no matter what he did.  Just because your child does something awful doesn't change the fact that he's your child and you've loved, raised, and invested time in him.

I'm certain the poor woman will spend a lot of time asking herself what she did wrong and will have a lot of guilt to deal with.  I know I would.

I've read/seen interviews with the parents of the kids who did the shootings at Columbine too, and they blamed themselves.  They still loved their kids though.

guess ya had to be there...the woman was clearly dysfunctional and possessive, not letting her son grow up and get away from her dominance...my take on it so far anyway.
