I know there are quite a few people on the board who are NOT from the United States. Does anyone out there follow and case about our politics? Right now America will probably vote in either it's first woman or first Black man and either way it is a big deal I think. My personal views are the Hillary is a bit mean. Barack is cool but does he really have enough experience and John McCain is a bit old. The reason I say he is old is because he is my moms age and I think she is too old!

At least she is too old to grasp all the technology (unlike our extremely smart Izzy!)

Hello Overcomer:
Yes, we do get T.V. and media coverage over here (lots of it!) on the U.S. elections. Quite fascinating. I would not comment here on the politics of another country. However, it must be quite incredible for you all over there, and it seems there was a much bigger turnout of voters than ever before. The general consensus here, given by "experts" on politics, is that Ms. Clinton will make it by a narrow margin.
A woman President will probably be quite something in the U.S.
All the best

And if she gets it she will probably give the vice president spot to Edwards to spite Obama! We all might get into a fight if we start discussing what others think of us. It has been awful since we went to Iraq. It is similar to our Vietnam experience. Plus the economy is in the toilet!
-
Oh, well. Politics and politicians are much of a muchness everywhere LOL.

I keep an eye on U.S. politics also since they have such an impact on the rest of the world.......... lots of coverage, most people I know are interested in international politics, newspapers here cover world news a lot. When visiting the States some years ago I was surprised at how little international comment there was in the media.

Likwise, the newpapers I read, and online news media, covers international world news, and in addition, the television media provides full coverage also, and so, with avid interest, I keep up with USA news and politics, as indeed, it has a worldwide impact.

You are right. Someone has to do it first. I think the Americans think if they elect Hillary they get Bill as well. The economy was better when he was in office. But he just couldn't keep his thing in his pants!!!
I don't know. I have watched Hillary during our State of the Union addresses and she just sits there with her arms crossed. I simply do not care who the president is, I want to support the USA....

lollie,
How absolutly beautiful and wonderful that you have raised such a delightful child. Kelly got a laugh over Bill.......kinda like him myself but then he is the kind of man I am usually attracted to .......charming, smart and a womanizer.

Yeah and when I think of all Bill has put Hillary through I guess I kinda admire her for staying her course-and I do not blame her for being an angry woman. However, maybe she reminds me of my mom in a way. The only time she showed any emotion is when she perceived Obama starting to steal her dream. The dream that SHE deserted. She did not like that he would get it so easy and she had put in her time and energy AND suffered public humiliation! My moms goal in life is to keep me down!
-
I meant the dream she deserved.

Hello to all:
Have to laugh here about Bill and his pants LOL 8)
There was great merriment over here at the time, and not a little perplexity about the outcry.
I am, I suppose, apolitical, or maybe just cynical.
Our own lot here are also in and out of trouble for one thing or another, usually money-related. L.

Are you saying that in other countries it is no big deal if the president has affairs? I think the thing that got me about Bill is that he acted like such a school boy while he was supposed to be running our government. Trists in the Oval Office. It sounds so much like my exN. He was all about the undercover, clandestine maneuvers. It was like he was the star of some mysterious story....such a fantasizer!! But seriously, how can you run a government when you are acting like that? And then to have such a mean woman like Hillary next to you...............I still give her respect for not drop kicking him.....but I think she knew he was her ticket to the White House.
-
Well, no, it is not (a big deal). Happens all the time.
Besides, I honestly do not think a hurried blow-job would qualify as "an affair". Bill"s problem was that he was found out (and maybe that girl was "planted", so that the incident would be blown (bad pun, I know) out of all proportion)
I also do not think such incidents would impair ability to run day to day business of a government.
All the best

hahahahahahahahahhaaaa :D Hysterical. Oh I think the US has this "moral" standard. The country talks out of both sides of their mouth. We have people from the far right to the far left.......and the Clinton's have been known to be dishonest people and yet I think they know how to run governments......oh well, it is a USA roller coaster. Double Standards. Judgements.
Still. If Bill should be going over some paperwork and he is in the closet with some intern.....it just seems so..................I don't know........................a little high schoolish??
-
Kelly,
I agree, we all know that it happens all the time, but it was the way he handled it. Didn't seem to have the kind of discretion you would expect from a world leader, but then did Kennedy? Just didn't have access to all the info then. I rememeber when I was a kid, my dad was in the military and we lived right outside of D.C. One of our neighbors was telling another about Kennedy and his affairs, even as a small child I was appalled. I thought she was terrible for spreading such lies. Oh the innocence of youth.
-
Yep Kennedy got away with it and probably the murder of Marilyn Monroe as well. Well, when you think about history and the tragic end of life Kennedy went through.............he has truly become an American icon...............even if he cheated on Jackie. And then the death of his gorgeous son.....such tragedy!!!!
Oh, and when I was young all that sex and drugs and rock and roll seemed so fun and exciting. I think now I am just getting old and it is no longer of interest to me.....
But Bill was a bit older...........probably going through some kind of a mid life crisis and having to go home each night to Hillary....
