Title: Fear of Making a Mistake
Post by: Ami on February 12, 2008, 04:01:57 PM
I realize that I get paralyzed  in big things and little things. Deciding to organize my house, get a dog trainer, do dog training myself, anything, I will usually just sit there ,staring in to space and then just give up and get on the computer(lol)
I see that it is fear of doing "it" wrong, whatever" it " is.
I have just seen this pattern and would like to hear other people's experience  ,if you care to share.                                                      Ami

Ami - you are describing my life to a tee.  I wrote about the very same thing over and over last year.  I still experience that paralysis at least one day a week but I am getting freer and freer.  My paralysis actually came from many things.  Last year I completely connected with the shame that paralyzed me.  This year I have been working to get specific - uncovering specific memories and reworking them until they no longer have the emotional charge, until they no longer trugger the shame once associated with them.

It is ridiculously slow work and can be discouraging at times but the one characteristic that has always been with me is persistence and so I will just persistently work on these shaming memories until I am free.
