Title: Oprah and The Big Give
Post by: Gaining Strength on March 02, 2008, 10:05:39 PM
I have the TV on while I am doing some things and Oprah's The Big Give was just on.  I had a thought, does anyone know how much money Oprah is making with that show?  Or do you think she is doing it for - the giving.

Hi GS,

Didn't know there was such a show.  Can't help with your questions.

Dear GS,
You raise a good point. I have no idea if it is pure altruism or a gimmick. It would be hard to know, for sure, I guess, right?

Oprah and The Big Give

If it was really a 'big' give would she still have two billion dollars at the end of it?

That's what I was sort of thinking Mud.  And then I started thinking that I bet she is actually making money on this show, meaning the she is personally profitting.  I am very curious about this.  As wealthy as she it, if she is making money on this it would seem somewhat hypocritical to me.  I've searched the internet and not learned anyting but I have heard that some in the media are asking th same thing.

Hi Mud & GS,

My take - She's saving the two billion back for an upcoming wealth redistribution project.
