Title: HELP! What is this? one gift from daughter....
Post by: Izzy_*now* on December 29, 2008, 04:06:53 PM
(http://www.slrkelowna.ca/corner.JPG)

It is about 6 feet long, about 3 feet wide is a beautiful shimmering black and gold--camera flash is bouncing off the sheen--- the tassles are black.

Is it a shawl? a runner for a table? for a dresser? not a wall hanging, as I cannot hang it!

What do I call it?

I recognize the DVDs. Oh boy! I'm in trouble!

It's pretty.

Looks like a scarf ...

I have some from my mother and I do use them as a coffee table runner.  I even have one that is so pretty I put it in a frame and hung it.

hi deb

Thanks but cannot be--SIX feet long--- and folded in half it fits over my lap and legs but is too light fot a lap cover. I use a quilt.

xxIz

PS

I don't use a coffee table, as it takes up too much space--she knows that.
(Well it's hiding the wires under my desk, which is 84 inches wide, in front of which I took the "full" pic.

Pashmina is gorgeous, beautiful, sensual.

Looks to me like a gift of love from a daughter to her beautiful, feminine, elegant and remarkable mother...

Hi Iz,

There's no 'ugly' on the Pashmina your daughter sent.  Wherever you wear it or place it (except hidden in a drawer), it will be beautiful.

Thank you ladies,

I am so happy with it, now that I know, and so happy I found out about it on the day I received it, so happy that a certain gal recognized it and posted the video.

I am so happy that I didn't have to ask her what it was.

Yes it is gorgeous, and Hops, the word 'sensual' just SO fits it. It shimmers and slides and now I know better than to put is on my dresser and send her a picture of it there. Oh horrors!
(are u chucklin' with poor innocent me?)

I would put it on my bed, perpendicular to the bed cover. As and ornament. Or cover my self with it while I watch TV. I like it.

Love,

Lupita

Iz, my NM gave me one. It is a fine wool, pale pink. I have never worn or used it. Enjoy it, given out of love.

Izzy:

I'd cover my head with it and sweep it back over my shoulders....... tucked into your coat it might not get in way of wheels?

Beautiful and elegant..... bobby pins would keep it in place.

I've been wishing I had some of my old scarves lately..... that one's lovely.

Thanks Lupita and towrite and
Thanks Beth and Lighter

After watching the video, I found the style that will work best. and stay put.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cmwxirkd18 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cmwxirkd18)

To fold the 6' long over into 3' long, place around my neck, put the loose ends into the looped end and arrange it so that is appears to be like a 'turtle neck', with more scarf covering my chest.  (Sometimes when propelling along (too fast) my zipper might slip a bit and expose my chest to more cold and I stop to fix-- now I am protected where I feel the cold the most.

I can devise other styles for spring and fall, but I will be sure they ends don't tangle in my wheels.

Wow I sure messed up a bag of natchos once!

xx

That's the perfect way to wear it. I love that "system" because slippery scarves have minds of their own...

One CAN be sensual even while celibate...totally. We still have our pleasure and aliveness.

Izzy

Sounds very functional and I've seen women wearing scarves like that.

The nicest part, will be having a comforting gift from d, close to your heart.

I must say..... I'll still picture you zipping about,

too fast,

smiling face framed in billowy burt umber and gold.

It has an exotic, frost bitten, appeal.

Ah, Hopsy,

"minds of their own " is SO right! I was always a scarf person and knew but one way, and always adjusting.

I did this picture without looking into a mirror as I had just done my makeup and hair but no slacks yet, was not ready to go out, then my batteries went dead--- yes, I can deaden battereis

We never stop learning, eh lighter, too? :P

I learned from going to the Health Clinic re my foot that the large overhang under which 20 cars can park, is basically for The Health Clinc, drop-offs, 5 minute parking, or dsiabled parking. I decided, upon learning that Sat and Sun are very slow there, that I would park there, enter the mall that way and continue to the Grocery store, shop, come back, load the car, drive home to my underground and never have to deal with snow (except the car can do that). I've done it twice now.

As well, I needed new Library books and was taking the car anyway, so drove there first. Oh my. All the snow on the 2 ramps, driving and walking, and in the parking spot I use if I take the car, so I drove up to the parking across from the library, door was open, went in, parked and as I was checking out learned there has been FREE parking on Saturdays for the Library. Another great find! :D  after 10 years here, but only 5 re Library.

I usually go in my chair and tackle the ramps, but with this snow I needed an alternate solution--Voilą---- which will suit rainy days etc. as long as I choose a Saturday!

(Somehow I developed an aversion to going through gates, and driving close to a machine to pull out a time ticket.)

You look wonderful in that scarfe, Izz.

Very "taking a drive in the English Countryside."

I still want to see it frame your face, like a hood.

Glad you don't have to brave the snow... clever girl.
