Title: New Study Challenges Effectiveness of Anti-Depressants
Post by: sunblue on May 10, 2009, 10:55:11 PM
Well now, this is depressing news for a depressive :)...Anew study (http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20090510/hl_time/08599189567200)
basically indicates that anti-depressants only work for a smaller subset of those afflicted with depression.....No wonder mine never worked!

Interesting article....

Dear Sun
I have never taken medication for depression but I exercise when I am depressed .After Scott died, exercise was a salvation for me. At  a certain point , I can feel my emotions changing---maybe serotonin(sp?) is kicking in.
 It works  for me.      Ami

Antidepressants didn't work for me either, at least not for very long.  There seemed to be an improvement phase everytime I switched to a different one or a modified dose, but it never lasted.

I'm glad more negative information is coming out.  There are probably some limited uses for anti depressants, but I haven't seen a single instance of a person who appears to have been cured of long term depression by taking pills.  And my family has provided lots of test subjects... :?
