Title: Testing my mettle....
Post by: Izzy_*now* on May 27, 2009, 10:38:01 PM
hiya One and All

Friends of 47 years, I have mentioned before:  Joe and I double dated with them, and they were here with their drug addicted daughter, 42, last summer. K. was a month clean, but when I ordered a glass of wine with dinner, she asked her mother if she could have one! What ought mother have done?  I? Daughter ordered the wine and we went out for a smoke together.

K. called today and wanted to stop in on her way through to Victoria, BC with her new boy friend, of 3 months. So hot he slept in the car when she came in and I swear I don’t know what a person acts like when high on drugs. I thought she was, but not, just happy to see me, and she ‘loves’ me. (I’m more outright and understanding than her mother--but that‘s because she is NOT my daughter)) But I’m so glad I never had to deal with this. We had a great chat, I played her one of my new songs, allowed her to bum 2 cigarettes, and that was AFTER, she asked if I could lend her some $$$. ($40-$60--??) I have $109 in my wallet.

Boy! Did I lie!  Am I bad, or is this lie written in in invisible ink? I looked surprised……. wide eyes, hand to my chest, “Me? Money? I haven’t been to the bank for over 2 months. My house lady does all the money stuff!” and she believed me! I have been out 4 times though, but my house lady shops with my debit card (has pin number) [[[and I kill her before she leaves the last day whenever]]]  and can bring me extra cash for ordering in, pizza, chinese, whatever…when she uses the card at the Grocery Store. We Care is bonded and I must trust someone in this mess or I’d be sunk.

I went out alone on Monday to have my new designer frames straightened, as they were bent when I landed after being hit. That trip was VERY hard on me. I was so slow by the time I returned and had to use heavy doors 6 times. (no push buttons) plus I overdressed. Gee I was in a winter jacket when hit by the car.

Listen to my new song. Get your toes ready....... took me 10 years to get it right!

Will Ya Baby

Congrat, Izz...you're open to love but not exploitation!

That's what your song and this story tell me.

You hang in there, songster.

It's so cool you've found a way to get your music out!

toes tappin,

Hi Iz,

I remember your story about k from last summer.  What is a caring soul like you to do?  I think you 'think' fast on your feet and that you did her, yourself and the community at large a great favor by pleading broke when she asked for $. That doesn't mean you don't care.  It means you exercised your good sense.  I wish I had more of your mettle!

Being a computer whiz, you probably won't believe it, but I don't even know where my speakers are.  What a silent world I live in!  But when I find them and get them hooked up, Will Ya Baby is the first thing I'll listen to.  I have no doubt that it is really, reallly, really good after ten years of tweaking.

Love to you,

tt

Oh Lordy...... do you think K's boyfriend, sleeping in the car and unable to come up and at least pretend to be sober..... hurt her chances of getting money out of you?

Your song's so human..... and really great.

We all need affection and care.

Broke my heart a little every time he sang I need a little hug.....

Sorry it hurt so bad to get up and out of the house, but.....

I'm glad you're up and out: )

Hi Iz,

Found my speakers and was so excited that I'd get to hear Will Ya Baby!  But all I can get them to do is play, 'Gonna get a mo' over and over.  Now I know why I didn't know where they were.  Can't get the darned media player to work.  I'm going to keep trying!

Thank you hops

I'm glad you liked and I ought have mentioned I don't mind a cig or two or a drink, but I swear I will NEVER buy drugs! They might need the money for gas, a motel or whatever, but if I have any inkling it might go another way, I have to say "No".

Now they drove over 8 hours in the heat from Alberta, (in one piece) so I have no idea if he was in a sober condition or not, but he did wake up, came & buzzed my apt, but no answer, when I pick up after 2 rings, as K just left and I guess was downstairs and they went on to the car. I went out to the balcony to say "Hi R." and "have a safe trip" stuff.

Hi tt

If I know enough about someone's "habits". I am usually prepared for like what happened today.

Do you have a Sound Card?--it is in with all the hardware (as in . Can you listen to CDs? watch and hear Youtube?
"Gonna get a mo' is long enough for the Windows built-in sounds, like opening and closing or finishing Spellcheck.

Check Control Panel under all the tabs after opening, "Sounds and audio devices" The 4th and last Tab ought to say "This device is working" if there is more in there than in the first three that mention "midi".

hiya Mo2 No. Her boyfreind didn't bother me as bit...as I said, he drove 8 hours in the heat. Even if he came it still would have been Izzy lying through her teeth!

I won't be out for a while again now. That was too much and was only ½ the distance as to and from the Library, but on my own. I won't know until I try and I won't do anything though that would set me back, as like my leg pained so I slowed to a crawl. Bet I looked frail out there alone

Any one want to lose weight? Break your leg and spend 2 weeks in our hospital. Drop at least 15 pounds!

Love all

Hi Iz,

Thanks for the tips.  And yes, I can listen to CD's.  It's me and my ignorance about PC's I'm sure.

I can bring up the Windows Media Player.  I think my problem is that I don't know how to tell it to play Will Ya Baby.  I'm working on it.  At least my desire to hear your song got me to working on the problem. :)

Here's  site, a free download.

http://download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-13632_4-10267151.html (http://download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-13632_4-10267151.html)

Click to download and Save to your Download folder, ot a folder whose name it is which name you remember.. Write down name of file you are downloading so you know it if you have to Search!

File ends in .exe.

EXE mean executable, so when the file is on your computer, you double click it to set it up on your computer.

WMFile, I have it but it's been overun by something else. Seems all play out of VLC  (this one) now.

i.e. VLC is my default program.

Good Luck

Hi Iz,

I'm still working on it.

Would you consider putting up the lyrics?

Gonna paint the tank-- Purple, blue and pink
Then we’ll head into the hills-- With a sleepin bag ‘nd beer
Lay beneath the stars-- Far away from here

I wanna little hug-- I need a little hug-- Gim-me a little hug
Will ya bay-ay-bee?

I wanna little kiss-- I need a little kiss-- Gim-me a little kiss
Will ya bay-ay--bee?

I have a payin’ job--Saved a little bit
Found a little house--Mortgaged to the hilt
Bought a d’mond ring--Cause I wanna prove
How much I love you Bay-bee--I wanna be with you

Will ya bay-ay-bee?

I wanna little kiss-- I need a little kiss-- Gim-me a little kiss

Hi Iz,

I love the lyrics.  Found myself trying to put a tune to them as I read.

Can't get the vlc download to work.  Error messages.

Looks like I'm stuck with Windows Media Player for now.  If I could just figure out how to send  Will Ya Baby to it to be played.

So now that you have been published aren't you an Indie?  As you can tell I can barely play the radio and don't know much about music and publishing it.

Love,

tt

Oh tt

I am NOT Published. This is a demo song, done by my Ontario musician. One that I would send to Indies if I had $100.000.00

You ought not be receiving error messages for downloading VLC MEDIA software, unless your system does not meet the requirements.

Tell me ther error you are receiving

Hi Iz,

I feel like I'm consuming way too much of your time here.

I went to the site just now.  Decided to try the CNET video and all my speakers do is sputter.  They're good speakers.  Is that a bad sign?

I looked at the requirements and I think my XP system is acceptable.

About publishing.  So if you wanted to be played on the Indies stations, you'd have to buy in?  I guess it makes sense.  Loretta and Doo (of Coal Miner's Daughter, fame) had to get into the car and go from radio station to radio station.  In today's world, that wouldn't work, would it?

hi tt

You are not consuming my time. I am only too happy to help

I Googled "How to make Windows Media Player my default player" and here are the instructions.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/howto/mp11/defaultplayer.aspx
[/b]

I went through it, on my computer, and it's all there.

From Start Button, Open Control Panel

On mine is a gray bar on the left that has the "Set Access programs and Defaults"

I clicked there and Custom radio button was already chosen, then on the right of the line are two ^, one over the other but pointing down, meaning "click here to see more, and when you do click, once, you will see the section to choose radio button for Windows Media Player

OK that and leave. See if you can play things now.

I just sent instructions to someone who doesn;t have a .pdf Reader, so I use my paining up times during the night to do these things, as a rest while sitting will make it better to go back to sleep.

Good Luck.

::raising hand::

I've had an error message on my main computer for 2 months.

Any idea how to fix a computer that says......

Operating system not found?

My 8yo was playing a game when it happened.

Operating system not found?
.......and that o/s is Windows XP? Please answer 1.

Which means you cannot operate that computer? 2.

At what point do you see this message, as in what screens load before error message halts it all?  3.

Do you reach the  black and white screen that comes just before  Windows usually loads?  4.

and does it read Microfsoft Windows XP Edition (some such) 5.

Do you have your original CD-Rom disk and serial/code number for your ownership of Win XP?  6.

Please answer all 6 questions

Iz,

Thank you.

You seem to have found a workable routine for that nasty injury to work its misery out.   I hope you don't have to spend much time in pain, from one pain pill to the other.   Is your help still doing their work well?

I'll try that new fix later today.

My little 'old man' doggie had the runs last night.  It's because I slip up and give him too much chicken.  He never has been able to tolerate chicken hardly at all.  Anyway, picture Brumhilda wet mop in hand!

Love to you,
tt
