Title: Technical Q re: posting replies
Post by: Portia on August 17, 2009, 09:54:59 AM
Does anyone else have this problem?

When i post a reply, I get to the bottom of the reply box and then find it difficult to keep typing, because rather than scrolling down, the type in the box keeps 'jumping'. And i can't keep the next sentence in view - can't see what I'm doing. (This is good technical language eh? :?)

Maybe it's using IE 8 . Possible solution: shorter replies...

I find the post can erase if it gets too long so in my last posts ,I cut them up. I don't know if it is the same thing you are experiencing.

Maybe you could be more concise. :P

Mud,  I think it is boorish of you to comment like that. Since we have to name names when we comment ,I am making a direct comment.     Ami

PS If you WERE sniping, I don't want to go any further with it. If you were NOT, I don't want to go any further with it.

Portia,

Yes, I have this problem too.  It is very, very annoying.  Most of the time I just quit posting...occassionally I will compose on Microsoft word and then copy and paste.  If I type very, very slowly, I can sometimes prevent it--but once the page starts jumping, there is nothing to do but close the window.

If anyone can give a solution, i would love it.

Iz asked pretty much the same question back on June 20.

anyone else have a bouncing message window?

It's very annoying, as where I am typing is below vision.

What is visible is something that I typed (seems like) an hour ago, because of going back and forth.

I can see only this line down to
'
'
'
'
'
'
'
'
'
here
here is out of sight, and when I was trying to select that word it kept dropping out of sight.

Now I type here and want to coorect sumthing and the window bouncesd around never to stay at the end of my typin.
so tohe11 with correcting.

Ami,

Since you say in your PS you don't know whether I was sniping perhaps your conclusion that my comment was boorish was premature?
Portia and I have a long history of good natured ribbing of each other. I'm fairly certain she will take my comment in the spirit it was given, otherwise I wouldn't have made it.

CB thanks, Word is probably the answer. Glad it's not just me.

Mud, I already made that joke at my own expense, first post, not that it solves the problem.

PS. Copying from Word is the answer!

Abouit the bouncing!! I didn't see this topic until today.

Mine finally cleared up. It might be IE8, as once logged on and I go to Favourites first, the bouncing takes place in that window now and my Reply window here is still , as in not bouncing.

In the meantime, typing in Word, then Copying and Pasting is the best solution.....and I just thought of it as being a temporary thing, like a broken leg...it will heal eventually!

Keep us posted

I'm having a different technical problem, and I better post about it now while I'm able to access the board. For the last two days, my attempts at logging in have been met with a red notice saying that "This user ID does not exist." I spent ALL DAY yesterday trying to log in, and finally gave up and tried to re-register. It wouldn't let me re-register because "email address was already in use." Late last night I FINALLY got in. I had to click on the button to reset my password, and answered the security question.

Woke up this morning, same problem. This time I knew how to get around it, but why is this happening? Just letting everyone know in case it happens to someone else. Click on the link that says you forgot your password. They will ask for your email address and to answer the security question, then you will allowed access.

Oh wow, I just got the jumping board glitch.

On the other issue, the problem seems to be that the board is no longer recognizing my newer ID. I had originally registered with a different ID, then changed it several months ago due to an online stalker. When I try to log in with the newer ID, I get the red message saying "That username does not exist." I've found that I can, however, log in with the old ID, but when I do, it says "Welcome JustKathy."

Weird. Just Weird.
