Christmas stopped being that when I learned there was no Santa and that he was my parents, who all year had no money to buy their children anything, but spent a lot more at Xmas. I felt 'the lie' ever so personally, being as Highly Sensitive as I am.
After that I played a role for those who celebrated until my Daughter, N-SIL and 2 kids never came to my place, so I stopped decorating, and was at their place, then gone as of 1991
I respect everyone else's way of celebrating the season, and try to stay out of it and alone and just enjoy my day, as I would any other.
However, my therapist, is the same way, so we are going out for an early lunch on the 24th but she does have her husband and his family to deal with after. (we're alike!)
So I will be giving her a Christmas Bonus, as that can be tradition, as all her fees with be entered into the claim. (I will be reimbursed and will have paid her nothing....)
I composed a special verse for her, as we are so alike I know she with not misinterpret the sentiment. How do you like it?
No one deserves a bonus
As much as Karla does
Çuz she put me back together
Almost like I usta was!

Sounds like a lovely way to spend your day, Izz.
I'm so glad you found a great T, and appreciate her.
She'll be thankful for the bonus, of course, but the poem makes it more personal: )
Haven't heard much from you lately.
I'll take that as a good sign, and hope you're feeling as happy as you sound in your post.
Merry Christmas, Izzy.

Merry Christmas, Iz!
This year I am so thankful for your Karla. You deserve someone special like that.
Much love,
CB

If I were Karla I would LOVE receiving that poem.
Nicely done, creative Izzz....
So happy you have that plan with her, and that she's clearly become your friend.
Love,
Hops

Thank you
lighter, CB and Hops.
Yep, even Karla puts on a role for Xmas in order to not be a Bah-humbug within her family. She is 41 and is one the best results I have had contact with who survived N parents. NC for 18 years, but she deals with her husband's N parents.
She has also sufferred her share of pain in earlier years and became a Rehabilitation Assistant. She is so good at what she does; she knows little tricks of the trade that I never had seen used before,
--so we had 2 things to get us off on the right foot for getting along.
She uses a bilaterel technique, working on my good right leg, as there is memory, or mirroring connections, that help the bad left leg re-learn better. The extra time for the right leg would not have been funded by the Insurance Co., so she began using it under our contract as of June 1. I stood one-legged on my right leg a few weeks ago, and 2 days ago...get his, with 'no hip', I stood one legged on my left leg....these while hanging on to the kitchen counter.
With no connection between my femur and my hip, I would think of my hip being 'rubber' and collapsing, but my femur must have found a 'handhold' somewhere. (I won't use crutches again: too dangerous at my age for falling and breaking something and a repeat performance, but to stand is the ultimate stretch for the leg.
My very best to everyone over the Season and May we all have a Better 2011
Love
Izzy
