If you want to see a monster for a mother, there is one in this movie.

If this is narcissism, my mother wasn't, but this is definitely 'control' and borderline incestuous, from my POV.

There have been many old movies I've watched, even first runs of remakes, and am certainly impressed with so many of them.

Comments?

I haven't watched it, Izzy, films about mums are just too scary for me!  I have a little lists of films people have recommended; one day when I'm feeling brave enough I'll start to watch them.  I've added this to it and will do it one day, I'm sure!  Thanks for posting :)

Izzy i read the review on http://moviemorlocks.com - it mentions the "emotionally incestuous relationship". Sounds a great film, esp for the time.

Hi Two a Penny,

I know what you mean...sometimes I cant do Mommy Dearest films.

I did do one thing though, very consciously.  I set out to watch movies that created good mothering role models and that was a big part of my healing.  As a matter of fact, it gave me something to look at besides the negatives--freeing me from simply reacting to the negatives in my own mothering.

I loved I Remember Mama, and Mrs. Miniver.
