Having a meeting with Parents and T today
« on: September 22, 2005, 08:09:12 PM »
My parents have agreed to come along to a preliminary meeting with my T and me today.
They asked for it. My T is showing signs of getting tired already. My Dad has been abusing her on the phone and she is not taking it too well even tough she is putting on her 'professional' face.
He is a master at engaging people in exhausting but meaningless conversations in which he scores points by subtly belittling them and challenging them on points of minute significance. He just grinds people down who play this game with him. He is never willing to deal with core issues prefering instead to change each conversation into a nasty exchange in which he 'proves' that the other person is WRONG.

Wish me luck .

David, best of luck. I'm sure your T is familiar with the kinds of evasive manipulative garbage your father pulls, and I'm sure you've already given your T a nice synopsis of his techniques so that both of you should be well prepared for the poo-storm when it comes.

I think it's safe to speak for others this once - and they'll all be along in a minute to add their own thoughts and words of support, I'm sure! - I know we're all rooting for you.

Hey David,

(Here we come, Stormie!  :) )

We're pulling for you.  You know, all you have to do is let him do his thing in front of T and your truth is validated with a new victim, er, I mean, witness.  I hope you don't get a hernia heaving the lifetime of poopoo back in his direction.

Good luck!!

Oh, PS, a great line to use if you feel you must say something is "feel better?"

Take some time and be nice to yourself.  An emotional battering is just as damaging as ahysical one, so give those bruises time to heal.

Your dad sounds like my Nmother, NishFather and Nbrother. My Nbro is especially wicked in this game.
