in spite of sinking
« on: April 02, 2008, 10:24:18 AM »
One phase of my move is over. I got everything out the house I had to give up yesterday. Did some cleaning. By myself. Now I have one more truckload to drive to my friend's house and unload. Can't find anything, having trouble thinking straight, aching in places where I never knew I could ache. Must renew my job search but can't get to my computer or even hook it up, which is where my resumes are stored. I'm whining, I know. Feel like I could sleep for 3 days if my mind would shut off. It's hard to do all this physical stuff as depressed as I am. I'm tired when I wake up and practically dead on my feet when the day is over.

Do I want some cheese with this whine???

Towrite,

why don't you have a good rest?  I just slept 10 hours, I was exhausted.  It's hard to get stuff done when you're really tired.

Oh my heavens ToWrite - you aren't whining.  I don't know how you did the move.  I know you HAD to but still I don't know how you did it.  I so admire you.  In the worst of spots and you have not given up.  Please keep sharing your nightmare with us but also believe that you persistence will bring you out of the darkness and into the light - not as soon as you deserve but soon enough before you can't take any more. - Thinking of you, praying for relief - Gaining Strength

Thanks to all of you. I never knew I had so much stuff. Well, I did, but so much itty-bitty stuff, hard to pack up. I just feel I am going to get a job, but it is taking so long. I just want it to happen - but not til I am more rested.

I hope the job comes the moment you have rested and have the strength.  I hope it is a wonderfully fulfilling one.

Thanks, guys, to one and all. I did get 8+ hrs of sleep last night. Didn't wake up at 4 a.m. with my mind whirling around worrisome things to do. I still have moments when stark terror enters with thoughts that I'm so old I will not be able to get a job. Should I tell people when I interview that I plan on working for many more years? Thoughts?

Dear towrite I want to add my voice of encouragement to you.  I think that with the baby boom vanguard entering their 60's we are on the cusp of changes in the workforce which will see it become normal for older people to be visibly prominent as workers.  That must make you positively trendy and fashionable.  :)  By all means I think you should say you intend to keep working so that interviewers know you aren't planning to quit as soon as you take SS benefits.  My MIL is 70 and working full-time.  My boss's dad is 80 and working full-time.  My fullest support and courageous resolve to you.
