So that children will keep their voices
« on: July 30, 2007, 04:22:20 AM »
Hello,

I have two sites that I have been following for years. I believe they might help parents of today. I first discovered The Natural Child Project and found it astonishing that it was possible to treat children this way. This was how I wished I was treated myself.
Hope you enjoy.

I wish my mother and father had the possibility and courage to feel their own neclected child (that they once where) , then the possibility of them treating me in this way (the link) would be so much more promising.

Hello again!
I "promised" to not post anymore on the board. And have already broken it twice.
Once again: I am finding also this one as corresponding to my beliefs and here is the connection, to me, very clear, between taking care of the children AND oneself.

Dear Besee

Very, very sentral sentence. It says it all.

How hard it is when "the help" is so hard to find, and society overall are so very scared of the true feelings.
The true feelings will never hurt any body. Supression of them will.

And thank YOU.

Dear Ami

I hope you will find the book answering some of your most sentral heart knowledge (as I did).
Alice Miller often answers readersmail like this: have you read my other books?
Her latest The Body Never Lies (2005) is often recommended. She also says in her article that she has a new book now (2007) - Saving your life.

Let me know if you find it corresponding to what you feel. I find the books I read of her to be the syntesis of my own truth. And to find that truth 100 % somewhere else, has not yet happened, to me.

Dear Ami and Besee (and others)

here is yet another readersmail. Sometimes it is hard to keep the truth at heart, just for surviving like we had to do as children. All those years and the only way of feeling inside that I knew.
the link is now like this, but you may have to look it up later on; the 11th of Octobre 2007 - the Aftermath. How delibirating and brave work done by this person.

(Ami, something in the back of my head knew that you were into The Body Never Lies - but, if you feel like me, you can never get enough of this revolutionary stuff)

I see this as an example of the natural child, -how we all should have been treated, and how it is possible to treat oneself, with caring.

Hi Eva,

Thanks for posting these links.  I have seen the natural child project before and love the approach they take.  I can only imagine how I would be today had I been raised that way!

Your post on light physical punishment for children "hit" a hot button of mine.

I am a very firm believer that no child should be hit for any reason.  I have never, ever raised a hand to my children - not even a light smack on the butt.  And they are incredibly good kids.

It really irritates me that hitting a child (even a smack on the butt) is legal.  If an adult hits another adult, it is punishable by law - WHY is it permissible to hit a child, the most vulnerable of us all?  I heard recently (have to research this to check the validity) that animal cruelty laws are stricter than child abuse laws.

It is unfathomable to me and infuriates me.

Peace!

You are right on!

your name is suitable for you. If everyone behaved against their children like you describe here, there would probably be no war - ever again.

The quote abouve is really misleading in the way that the newest mail on Alice Miller's website for readers mail, always will show up. Sorry about that, but in this way it is always possible to read the latest :)
The mail that highlighted light physical punishment in Norway, called Norway a progressive country from November 05, 2007 showed up when Peace read the link above. And it is SO important, of course.

The link I was referring to was Aftermath from October 11, 2007 and here is where it is now:
