Tool For Getting to Know Oneself
« on: January 09, 2005, 12:34:28 AM »
Hello Everyone,

This year at our holiday gathering everyone took this test.  It was fun, and proved to be a good activity where each one was the center of attention for a little while.  Afterwards, I got to wondering about whether narcissism manifests in one personality type (as outlined by Keirsey) more than another.  That is what prompted a post I made on the other board.  I got no replies there.  Don't worry, I didn't feel ignored.  I thought it wouldn't hurt to post about it again and to give the URL.  I'm very curious about all this and hope to hear what you think about it all.   thttp://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

I took this test, I love this kinda stuff.

I studied Palmistry and I have a very long middle finger. I have a strong focus on whats right and wrong and it also applies like my stongest percent was in judging. (44%)
(it must mean I would be good for a chilli cook off )

 1%  slightly expressed extrovert

22% slightly expressed intuitive personality

22% slightly expressed feeling personality

44% moderately expressed judging personality

I think I have personality traits that lead me to fall in the trap of the N.

1. Doing what's right is not always the best thing. This can be confused with Right for who.
Not having a stong mother support allowed me to cling at a young age to Idealistic things. Anyway that's another story for another day.

it was fun ..(the link name at the beginning has an extra letter)

I liked it! IT was fun. I came out as a teacher (can't remember the letters ). It was so true to who I am it was quite spooky! Thank you for that.

whether narcissism manifests in one personality type

I very much doubt it. Do you think it does Chicksquip and if so which one?

"There's something rotten in Denmark." Accurately suspicious about others' motives, INFJs are not easily led. These are the people that you can rarely fool any of the time. Though affable and sympathetic to most, INFJs are selective about their friends . Such a friendship is a symbiotic bond that transcends mere words.

INFJs have a knack for fluency in language and facility in communication. In addition, nonverbal sensitivity enables the INFJ to know and be known by others intimately.

Writing, counseling, public service and even politics are areas where INFJs frequently find their niche.

"Counselor - INFJ"

Interesting stuff, Chicksquip. Thanks for bringing it to the top. I've taken this before (or maybe it was the Myers Briggs - ENTP, I think). Some of this seems right on (the writing/public service) and some I'm not so sure. Especially the part about not being easily led (wish this hadn't been the case with my N   I think how I answer questions can also depend on my mood.

Best,
bludie

PS -- Am not sure if one type fits a Narcissist more than others. Interested in what others think

I forgot to say I'm a ENFJ, Teacher,

Quote

The Idealists called Teachers are abstract in their thought and speech, cooperative in their style of achieving goals, and directive and extraverted in their interpersonal relations.

They are proud of themselves in the degree they are empathic in action, respect themselves in the degree they are benevolent, and feel confident of themselves in the degree they are authentic. Idealist types search for their unique identity, hunger for deep and meaningful relationships, wish for a little romance each day, trust their intuitive feelings implicitly, aspire for profundity. This is the "Identity Seeking Personality" -- credulous about the future, mystical about the past, and their preferred time and place are the future and the pathway.  Educationally they go for the humanities, avocationally for ethics, and vocationally for personnel work.

But Teachers are not so much social as educational leaders, interested primarily in the personal growth and development of others, and less in attending to their social needs.

I was just watching the History Channel and the story how Gandhi's blood stained robe was on public display.

He was an Idealist Mentor, The same day he had a premanition about his robe being stainned with blood, so he took care of his important details
just before he was killed.

Sometimes I get feelings or dreams. I remember one time I called my NH at work and explained how I had a bad dream about fire.
that same day at his work he was a plumber, a pipe he was working exploded.

I had others, one about my sick Aunt dieing the next morning I got a call she died about the same time I had my dream.
I can remember the dream in detail, where other types of dreams I can't.

Sometimes I wish I wouldn't get these types of dreams they can be upsetting.

Fun stuff ....Onlyrenting

Hey,

Thanks for your replies about the test.  Guest, you asked if I had an opinion about whether one personality type manifests narcissism more than another.  No.  I haven't a clue.  Out of our family group who took the test over the holidays, none in my opinion seem narcissistic except my Mom.   The test revealed that she and I couldn't be more different.  I don't know if the test is structured in a way that would in any way reveal narcissistic leanings.  If anyone knows, I would be interested in knowing if such a test exists.

Oh, and by the way, in my previous post.  It wasn't the test that revealed that my Mom is an N.  I discovered that several years ago sitting in front of my computer reading Dr.G's essays.

I think not and anyway, we all have healthy narcissistic leanings. We need them to think we're worthy of existing. If we didn't have any, we'd curl up and die.

Here’s another batch of interpretations of the MB types. Very helpful stuff on this thread, thanks chicksquip.
