New 10-minute play: "The Last Resort"
Dr. Richard Grossman:
Hi everyone,
For those interested (I know my plays are not for everyone!), I just e-published my second 2014 Boston Theater Marathon entry entitled “The Last Resort”. Here’s the link:
https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/372029
I’m happy to report that “Reality Book Group & 3 other short plays” ( https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/217274) is currently the most downloaded book of American plays on the popular e-book web site, Smashwords.
Thanks for the read! And, of course, all comments and reviews are welcome!
Richard
Hopalong:
I personally love your cynicism.
Because I can feel the love and "releasing the outcome" that is beneath it, oddly....
Wonderful!
I really like this one.
love
Hops
Dr. Richard Grossman:
Thanks, Hops! Yes, I actually care for/love the “Ken” characters in the world (I suppose because they are like me)—I want them to be less alone and experience less suffering (i.e. become less “voiceless”). One reviewer (actually my college roommate!) took two lines from the play and wrote:
“Two classic Grossman themes: (i) "The world has two kinds of people. There are people who, in order to survive the hardships of life, comfort themselves with fantasy and dreams. And there are people who can only see what’s real and quickly become bored and miserable. It is clear that you (Ken) are one of the latter." (ii) "You see, I’m (Ken) like a bloodhound. I’m an expert at sniffing out the truth. And once I’m on the trail…"
I so appreciate your reading the play!
Richard
Meh:
I will read it!!!
unfortunately first I must make myself try to figure out the Obama care stuff etc. a different type of reading fueled by reality, was told today to consider signing up for it, probably means reading a lot of small print stuff or something un-fun like that
congrats for completing a project, very cool that you have creative outlets 8)
This is the first time I have seen the smashwords website. something new every day
Dr. Richard Grossman:
Thanks, Green Bean! I do hope reading my play is more fun than reading the Obamacare literature. In the worst case, mine should be shorter…
Richard
