I read your play and left a comment. Boy! that is a great play and so funny and insightful. Loved it.
1) Because the couple seem hopelessly stuck
2) it has elelments of a Greek Tragedy
3) very relatable characters
4) has that existential crunch angst
5) Honest about all the trendy quick fix psychological cures
6) Made me laugh out loud
7) Made me want to see more of the characters
8) believable happy ending

This would be a great play to put on somewhere.  I would LOVe to see it on YouTube unless you could bring it to Port Alberni.

Hi sea storm,

Thank you so much for reading and responding to “The Last Resort”!  I’m so glad you liked it -- and for all the right reasons ;-)!  Somehow your comment did not show up on Jeff’s (my brother’s blog), but I’m sure he would get a kick out of reading it if you were to re-post it.  I wish I could bring the play to Port Alberni!  Good luck with your move!

Hi

I can repost it but not sure how or where to do that.  You can repost it anywhere you like.

Also, Port Alberni has a thriving theatre group and a theatre house.  This is pretty good for a town with a population of about 15 thousand.  I think your play is good and has lots of energy.  What does one do to put on a play and get the rights from you?

You would not have any trouble putting that play on. Its just getting it out there where people can see it.

Very exciting.

Sorry I am not more computer saavy.

S.

Hi sea storm,

"You can repost it anywhere you like."

Thanks!

"Also, Port Alberni has a thriving theatre group and a theatre house.  This is pretty good for a town with a population of about 15 thousand.  I think your play is good and has lots of energy.  What does one do to put on a play and get the rights from you?"

Typically, the play would be part of a ten-minute play festival.  All that I would ask is that the theater let me know that it is going to be done--I would be thrilled!

"You would not have any trouble putting that play on. Its just getting it out there where people can see it."

Thanks, at some point I'll try again.

"Sorry I am not more computer savvy."

As long as you're savvy enough to participate here, that's all that matters to me!

Hello,

Having read what the critics of your play said I would like to add that criticism is an art in itself.  It requires a component of encouragement sandwiching the filling of insight into the weaknesses of the play. I am not at all convinced that their criticism is right or even in the ballpark.

I  think the play had a big spark of energy. It has IT. Who cares if it lacks lustre at this point? So few people have a lot of psychological intuition. If they don't then don't let them near your play. Phooey...... words fail me.

I would think you could go on in depth with that play.  I learned something from it, I was very curious about how things would play out, it garnered my full attention.  I imagined reading it with friends.  It bugs me that critics can destroy that breath of creativity that is so important to you. I hope that you don't let that happen.

The critics were the wrong audience, the audience is the key. The right director of a small community theatre could get this in front of the right audience. (That's what I think.)
