I hear ya! I've not really found any groups like that in my area, though. I joined a voluntary group (conservation work). Loved the work and the guy running the group was great, as were two of the other men there. But of the remaining four two were making incredibly racist comments at any opportunity, another kept slagging off people on benefits (I think you call it welfare in the states) and the fourth just talked endlessly and incessantly about himself. Similar thing with a walking group I joined - the walks were great but the people weren't. I'll keep looking!
